In this article, we are going to be discussing the        eBook marketing industry. EBook marketing is one of the best ways that you can make money on the internet for several reasons. However, not everyone understands the process or the reasons that so many people have had success. But we will cover everything from the creation of the eBook to the buying process below.

What Is EBook Marketing?

The first question that has to be answered is what eBook marketing is. Basically, eBook marketing is when you take an electronic book that you own and use the internet to get people to buy it. There are several avenues that you can take when it comes to internet marketing for eBooks. We will be discussing each of them here.

How to Create an EBook

If you don't have an eBook to market, then you are going to have to create one. However, that doesn't mean that you have to be a world-class writer with an amazing idea. In fact, non-fiction eBooks that solve a problem are the best types of books to create so you don't have to come up with an idea at all because the type of book that you will be marketing depends upon your keyword research.

You'll do keyword research to come up with keywords that have a high search value but that there isn't much competition for. However, this will vary depending on from the method that you're going to use to market your eBook. For example, keywords are extremely important when it comes to publishing your book on Amazon. However, if you are doing direct marketing with a sales page and using non-organic search to bring people to your site, then keywords may not be as important.

When it comes to actually creating your eBook, you don't have to have an amazing work of art to publish. You can create an eBook with simple language and basic information as long as it solves the problem that the person has. Of course, you will have more success if your book solves the problem better than any other book out there.

Ask for length, eBooks are all over the place when it comes to how long they are. Some of them are as short as just a few thousand words while others can get upwards of 50,000 words. However, the standard length for an eBook tends to be somewhere between 10,000 and 20,000 words.

If you aren’t a writer, don't worry. There are lots of freelancers out there that are willing to write an eBook for you for a fair price. The quality level that you get will vary depending up on what company you use or which freelancer you hire, but if you offer a fair price ranging between $0.03 and $0.05 per word, you'll get the best quality writers.

Why You Should Do EBook Marketing

There are number of reasons that you should consider doing eBook marketing. First of all, eBooks can definitely make money if you know how to market them correctly. In fact, someone that knows how to market an eBook would be better off investing money in creating them then just about any other method of investing.

For example, the person that takes $100,000 and puts it into the stock market may be able to grow that money to a million in a few years if they really study the market and have lots of luck on their side, but if you put $100,000 into eBook marketing, you are almost guaranteed success and it could easily skyrocket to be ten times what you would make investing in the stock market. Here are a few other benefits that you get when you write an eBook.

  • When people see that you have a published a book, even if it is self-published on Amazon, your credibility automatically goes up
  • Giving away an eBook what is probably the most effective way of building an email list out there and that list can sustain your business for a long time to come.
  • In addition, create an interesting endeavor and can be a lot of fun if you enjoy writing

Methods of EBook Marketing

In this section, we are going to discuss some of the ways that you could market an eBook. Most of these are intended for an eBook that you actually plan to sell. Pricing is also very dependent upon the method that you are using. We will cover each one briefly along with the ins and outs, and everything you need to know to use that method.

Kindle Publishing

The first method that we're going to be discussing is Kindle publishing; this is one of the easiest ways to get your book out there and definitely the one that costs the least; all you basically have to do is publish your Kindle book and if you have chosen the keywords correctly, then your book will appear in search results when people type in that keyword phrase. Of course, this is more difficult than it sounds because every year thousands and thousands of other eBooks are being added to compete with those already on Amazon. Amazon also has the disadvantage of pricing. The average cost of an eBook is $2.99, which gives the author a royalty of just over $2 for every book sold.

Other Publishing Venues

Of course, Amazon is not the only place to publish your eBook. Sticking with Amazon at your sole distributor does have one advantage. You can use the Kindle Select program to promote your book and get listed in the Kindle Unlimited library, which pays you money for each page of your book that someone reads. However, there are some other publishing platforms out there like Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, Kobo and many more.

You can even use some platforms to get your book in the actual physical format and into bookstores. Create Space is one of the companies where that can happen, but it does take a little bit of technical know-how to get through the process.

Direct Sales

If you do not wish to self-publish your book traditionally through Amazon or another platform, then you may want to try the direct sales approach. This is where you set up a website with a sales page specifically to sell your eBook. Of course, a lot of times simply having an eBook is not going to be enough no matter how well you promote it. That's why these direct sales pages usually include an entire package consisting of audio, video, images and of course the e-book itself. The benefit of doing this is that you get paid right away and you can charge whatever you want. The standard price for an eBook or entire eBook course sold through this method is between $20 and $30. Of course, the disadvantage of this method is that you're going to have to do the marketing for your book yourself. This may mean using pay-per-click campaigns and other types of advertising, as well as leveraging organic search to get people to your page.

EBook Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is when someone who is not the creator or owner of an eBook sells it and earns a commission on it. If you have written an eBook, then you may be able to set up a sales page and get other people to send traffic to it simply by offering them a commission to do so.

That's exactly what the website Click Bank is set up for. You can list your book on Click Bank and affiliate marketers will find it and promote it, sending traffic to your website and getting you sales. For this, the standard commission amount is about 40%. So you would keep 60% in the marketer would get the other 40%, less any fees that Click Bank charges to list or sell your book.

openPR-Tip: Of course, affiliate marketing also goes the other way. If you do not have an e-book but you want to do eBook marketing, you can find books on Click Bank that you want to promote and then drive traffic to those sites in are in a commission. You could also theoretically use the Amazon affiliate program to market eBooks but the commission is only a few cents for every dollar, so you would have to sell an awful lot of eBooks to be making any real money.

The Cover

We have discussed the e-book itself in great detail, but you definitely want to pay as much attention to the cover as the eBook itself. Unless you are a really incredible graphic designer with experience in eBooks, you definitely should not create the cover yourself and maybe not even then. One of the best ways to get the best possible cover you can for the money is to use 99Designs where you can pay a few hundred dollars for an eBook cover and get around a hundred different choices. The more you pay the more options you have.

Conclusion

The bottom line is the eBook marketing is the single best way to start a business online with no money. Even if you're not a terrific writer, it is pretty easy to outline 10000 words eBook and then write the chapters. From there you have a great deal of freedom as to how you want to Market your eBook and what kind of money you want to make from it.
