Banasthali B School WISDOM Special Lecture Series: Prof Azhar Kazmi KFUPM on Market Volatility

The B School of Banasthali aptly named WISDOM which stands for Women’s Institute for Studies in Development Oriented Management has a Vision to prepare women for enlightened leadership roles in all walks of life.

The Institute's mission is to contribute towards development of women leadership that would play active role in society-building, entrepreneurship and management of organizations and institutions in consonance with nation's spiritual and cultural heritage and its own context. WISDOM offers BCom, BBA, MBA and PhD programs in management. In addition a student of B.A. can also take up management as one of the options.

WISDOM regularly brings experts from different parts of India as well as abroad to give lectures on specialized topics. On 29 July 2017, the invited expert was none other than Prof Azhar Kazmi from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) Dhahran Saudi Arabia. Prof Kazmi did his B.E. (Hons) Mechanical from BITS Pilani (1976), MBA from Rajasthan University (1979) and PhD from Kurukshetra University (1984). His three decades of teaching include in various capacities at Aligarh Muslim University, MDS University Ajmer, International Islamic University at Bangladesh and Malaysia. The widely popular Business Policy book published by Tata McGraw Hill has been authored by none other than Prof Kazmi.

Prof Kazmi beyond academics is well known for his soul stirring singing prowess and is known to several generations of alumni of BITS Pilani. Prof Azhar Kazmi is closely associated with mission with passion Kala Ankur Where Talent search and Promotion is a tradition founded in 1996 by a group of art-loving people of Ajmer with a strong commitment for the promotion of fine and performing arts and culture. Dean of B School WISDOM Banasthali Prof Harsh Purohit welcomed the MBA students who joined Banasthali in July 2017 and gave a befitting introduction about Prof Kazmi.

Prof Kazmi in his enlightening talk spoke on the evolution of business in India, the Industry Act 1956, the era of License Raj, opening up of the Indian economy the Liberalization and the linking of it with World economy the Globalization, the entry of MNC auto majors, electronics majors etc in the Indian scenario, the salient changes in government policies, the issues relating to market volatility and strategies like contingency planning for controlling the same.

Prof Kazmi advised the students to make best use of the excellent facilities and opportunities available at Banasthali to become empowered citizens for world at large and urged them to focus on communication skills, computer skills, decision making skills, time and Project management skills and mold themselves as excellent team players. On behalf of Banasthali, WISDOM Faculty Prof Prashant Raman armed with several inspiring quotes thanked Prof Azhar Kazmi for sparing his precious time to visit and share his wisdom for inspiring the faculty and students of Banasthali.

After the lecture, Prof Azhar Kazmi gave an inspiring talk on empowering rural women at the CFPRW - Centre for Financial Planning Training and Research for Women at Banasthali and Mrs Kazmi awarded mementos to the core team of women trainers who will be spreading financial literacy in several villages in and around Banasthali.
