Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) Campaigns Against Plastic Use

REDUCING PLASTIC POLLUTION
AS WE ALL KNOW USE OF PLASTIC CONTRIBUTES TO A GREAT DEAL OF SOIL AND WATER POLLUTION. MILLIONS OF TONS OF PLASTIC WASTE ARE BEING DUMPED INTO OUR OCEANS EACH YEAR. THIS IS AFFECTING NOT JUST THE WATER BUT ALSO MARINE LIFE.
WHAT MAKES PLASTIC HAZARDOUS IS, IT IS BASICALLY A NON BIODEGRADABLE PRODUCT.
OTHER THAN SOIL AND WATER, PLASTIC POLLUTION ADVERSELY AFFECTS HUMANS AND WILDLIFE ALSO.
BPCL CONTRIBUTION FOR SPREADING AWARENESS
But governments, corporations and ordinary citizens around the world are making serious efforts to curb this menace. Ordinary citizens can use jute bag instead of plastic bags to reduce plastic pollution on their part. Similarly government is playing their role in creating public awareness regarding the use of plastic.
As far as corporations are concerned they are also playing their role. The company that we know is Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (https://www.bharatpetroleum.in) which is campaigning against the plastic use in India.

BPCL launched a number of campaigns two spread awareness. They were launched in two cities of the country, Jammu and Kochi.
BPCL Jammu "Prabhat Peri" Campaign

JUTE BAGS INSTEAD PLASTIC BAGS
In Jammu, BPCL, Bharat Gas LPG and Retail business Units in association with Jammu Municipal Corporation organized 'Prabhat Pheri' to ensure widespread awareness against plastic usage. They asked people to use more and more paper and jute bags.
On this occasion they also distributed jute bags among the agency delivery boys and took pledge to raise awareness against plastic usage.
RALLY FOR A CAUSE
After that a rally was flagged off to raise the awareness against plastic among public. The event was organized for a day. All the area managers and distributors were present at the event organized in Jammu.

BPCL Kochi Campaigns
There are some other initiatives under taken by BPCL to spread awareness against the plastic usage. One such initiative is using steel water bottles instead of plastic bottles.
STEEL WATER BOTTLE
• The project was inaugurated by BPCL executive director Ajith Kumar where he distributed steel water bottles to 500 students in Kochi, Kerala.
• Moreover, dry waste collection boxes for paper and plastic waste will be placed at five major points in the city. The campaign is also going to spread hygiene and sanitization awareness.
WATER PURIFICATION & PARK BOREWELL
• Another initiative is setting up a water purification project with the aid of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited.
• A borewell is being relied in park to meet the water demand. The water purification project will have capacity to treat around 70,000 liters of water every day. The project will also provide public with a drinking water source.
These were some of the major initiatives taken by BPCL to spread awareness against the use of plastic in the country. BPCL is playing their role in reducing plastic pollution. Just like BPCL every citizen has to play his and her role to reduce plastic pollution from the country.
