BPCL Puts Up Gasoil Cargo for Sale After Over a Year

BPCL, Gasoline, BPCL News,

Bharat Petroleum Corp recently announced its intention to sell a spot gasoil cargo, marking their first such offer in over a year. Informed sources from the industry confirmed this development on Monday.

BPCL plans to sell around 40,000 metric tons of gasoil with a sulphur content of 10ppm. This cargo is set to be loaded from Kochi on October 26-27. Interested parties can submit their bids until October 3, and BPCL will finalise the sale on that day.

Historical data indicates that BPCL had made similar offers for 10ppm sulphur gasoil cargoes back in April 2022. Those cargoes were meant for delivery between July 2022 and January 2023.

The recent decision to offer gasoil might stem from increased overseas profits, even though domestic charges witnessed a decline last week. Recent deals for gasoil originating from India in October are priced at around $6 more per barrel than the rates in the Arab Gulf region, marking an increase from the $4 premium seen for September deals.

Previously, the government-owned refiner had expressed interest in purchasing gasoil cargoes for delivery to its Mumbai refinery in late June to early July. This might have been due to scheduled upkeep activities for some of its diesel-producing sectors at the Kochi refinery.

As of now, BPCL has not issued any comments on this matter.
