Tata Passenger Electric Mobility and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Announce a Landmark Collaboration to Set Up 7,000 EV Charging Stations Across India

In a significant move towards bolstering India's electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd (TPEM) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) have joined forces to establish 7,000 public EV charging stations across the nation. This initiative aims to revolutionize the EV landscape and accelerate India's journey towards e-mobility.

Under this partnership, signed through a memorandum of understanding, TPEM and BPCL will leverage their respective strengths. BPCL's extensive network of fuel stations and TPEM's deep insights from over 1.15 lakh Tata EVs on Indian roads will guide the strategic placement of these charging stations.

The primary goal of this initiative is to enhance the EV ownership experience by ensuring the availability of charging stations at key locations frequented by Tata EV owners. The collaboration also explores introducing a seamless payment system through a co-branded RFID card, further easing the EV charging process and encouraging wider adoption of EVs in India.

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of TPEM, emphasizes the importance of this partnership: "This collaboration not only aligns with our vision to foster positive change in the EV sector but also strengthens the charging infrastructure, crucial for the adoption of electric vehicles in India."
