Top of the Class: GOVECS wins eCarTec Award 2011
Munich, October 19, 2011 – Here comes the winner: GOVECS GmbH, the leading German offerer of innovative electric scooters, won the eCarTec Award 2011. In the category "Motorcycle" the Munich-based company aced out national and international competitors, such as Peugeot Motocycles. Carrying a value of Euro 7,500, the Bavarian National Award for Electric Mobility was awarded last night by the Bavarian State Minister for Economics, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology Martin Zeil within the framework of the Night of eMotion.GOVECS applied for the Award with its GO! S3.4, the first electric scooter in the motorcycle league. A jury of six assessed the model based on a total of nine criteria: Scientific-technical performance, sales performance/impetus to the market, sustainability, security innovation, engineering/design, practicability, potential of implementation as well as economic efficiency. Prof. Dr. Josef Nassauer of Bayern Innovativ GmbH, who presented the Award, emphasized that rather clear aspects spoke for the winner. The emission-free vehicle of the 125cc class convinced the jury particularly with the new paths that GOVECS pursued in the fields of development and conceptual design. The steel pipe grid frame was exclusively developed to meet the requirements of an electric vehicle and has a very low center of gravity. Moreover, the highly efficient brushless motor combined with the low-maintenance belt drive make for a light weight. Just as all other scooters produced so far, GO! S3.4 was completely developed and produced in Europe. For Nassauer this is a rather important aspect for a young company that was able to gain Bosch – one of the world’s leading enterprises in the field of electric machines - as cooperation partner. This electric scooter that was launched on the market in August did not only stand out with these technical attributes, but also with his design as compared to the competitors.
“We are very proud of being awarded the Bavarian National Award for Electric Mobility along with winners such as Opel Ampera in the category of electric cars“, says Thomas Grübel, CEO of GOVECS GmbH. “This Award confirms us in our continuous efforts to offer our customers sustainable mobility and joy to drive, also in higher speed categories.“
Only in May this year GOVECS won the “European e-Scooter of the Year” Award. The company left aside its competitors with the model GOVECS GO! S2.4 in the most popular class of vehicles up to 45 km/h. GOVECS’s electric scooter convinced particularly with its high quality, the appealing design and the long reach of up to 100 kilometers.
Interested parties can see the GO! S3.4 at the eCarTec 2011 until October 20, hall A6, booth 406. For the first time there is also a possibility for a test drive. The experts of GOVECS are personally available for any questions regarding the emission-free two-wheeler.
GOVECS GmbH dedicates itself to the development, production and distribution of electric vehicles. GOVECS is headquartered in Munich. It was established in 2009 with the goal of offering clean, efficient, reliable an affordable vehicles for the street traffic.
