Electric Mobility 2012: Range and Quality in Demand
Munich, December 15, 2011 – About 2,500 registered electric vehicles, 881 of which are passenger car – this is the situation in Germany’s streets regarding electric mobility. Until 2020 the Federal government wishes to have a million E-vehicles on their way. Particularly electric scooters from the Far East are popular due to the low costs of purchase. GOVECS, the leading German offerer of innovative electric scooters, expects an increasing demand for high-quality e-vehicles on the German market next year. Thomas Grübel, CEO of GOVECS, sees the following trends in the field of electric mobility.• Quality in demand: In 2011 electric mobility was a big issue in politics and the media. Due to the gained knowledge, ecological arguments are no longer the only decision criteria when purchasing an E-vehicle. The purchaser of tomorrow pays attention to range and charging time, but also to workmanship and equipment. With an increasing technical knowledge their demands to the technical quality increase as well.
• The market adjusts itself: Asian producers of E-scooters generate ever decreasing sales. Caused by the growing awareness of the customers with respect to quality the price is no longer the crucial criterion when choosing an electric scooter. On the trade fair Salon de la Moto in Paris, for instance, which is the third largest trade fair for bicycles in Europe, there was no producer from China. It remains questionable, whether the short-term success story in terms of exports of cheap offers coming from the Far East can be repeated in the future.
• Model regions under pressure to succeed: Be that Hamburg, Stuttgart or Munich – field tests have to prove the reliability of E-vehicles. Only in such a manner is it possible to convince interested parties to purchase these vehicles. In order to improve the suitability for daily use of the technology and thus to increase the number of electric vehicles in German streets in the long run , in the year 2012 there will be more official tenders for electric mobility projects on the side of the industry and the public authorities.
• Purchase price as an incentive: A million electric vehicles are expected to drive on German streets until 2020. The goal of the Federal government is quite ambitious, given that so far not as many consumers decided for an electric vehicle as hoped. A purchase premium - available for the entire range of electric vehicles - could still help reaching this target. A prior examination of the various models would ensure that only high-quality vehicles are subject to being promoted. In such a manner the trust in the technology can be strengthened further.
• E-vehicle, tailor-made: Companies expect the commercially used e-scooters to bear financial advantages first and foremost. Along with the lower “fuel costs” the low maintenance and repair costs enable the companies to lower their expenses when using E-vehicles. This is why in 2012 increasingly high-quality vehicles will be used be that for post services, in transport companies or courier service providers. This is not only cost saving, but also has a positive impact on the image of the respective companies.
GOVECS GmbH dedicates itself to the development, production and distribution of electric vehicles. GOVECS is headquartered in Munich. It was established in 2009 with the goal of offering clean, efficient, reliable an affordable vehicles for the street traffic. Top designers and outstanding engineers are working on creating electric vehicles that are not only chic but also comply with the requirements of modern electric mobility.
