Pole, top speed, and heat: Bruno Greiling delivers a strong performance in Spain
Muelsen, July 2, 2026. Bruno Greiling had a strong weekend at the third round of the Spanish Championship at the Kartodromo Internacional Lucas Guerrero in Chiva. In sweltering heat, the young racer held his own among the leaders from the very first session, once again demonstrating his speed, his tenacity, and his ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions.Promising Start
Already during Friday's practice sessions, Greiling set several fastest laps, placing him among the fastest drivers in the field right from the start. He confirmed his form again on Saturday morning: In the warm-up, he secured pole position in his group and finished second overall. That was a strong statement to the rest of the field and laid the foundation for a promising weekend.
In both heats on Saturday, Greiling delivered solid and consistent performances. With a 2nd-place finish in the first qualifying race and a 9th-place finish in the second race, he remained within striking distance of the leaders and demonstrated how well he could handle the difficult track conditions and the heat.
Just Missed the Podium
In the Superheat on Sunday morning, Greiling then showcased his true racing class. He led the race for long stretches and was still on course for victory going into the final turn. After a brief contact, he ultimately had to settle for 4th place, just 0.162 seconds behind the podium. It was one of the closest finishes of the weekend and further proof of his speed among the leaders.
In the final, Greiling started from sixth position and once again emerged as one of the most impressive riders in the field. In an intense race filled with numerous battles, he held his own strongly and ultimately crossed the finish line in a hard-fought eighth place. Given the extreme temperatures of up to 35 degrees Celsius and the even hotter asphalt, this was a result achieved primarily through consistency, determination, and physical strength.
Strongest Rider on the Team
Particularly noteworthy was how Greiling handled the adverse conditions. While his bike wasn't as competitive as some of his rivals' in all phases under the extreme temperatures, Bruno remained the fastest junior among his four teammates on the MDC Team and adapted most effectively to the changing conditions throughout the day.
Last but not least, his physical preparation laid a crucial foundation for his ability to consistently ride in the leading group. In the end, while the result wasn't what would have been possible under optimal conditions, it was nonetheless another convincing display of riding skill, physical endurance, and mental strength.
Quote from Bruno Greiling:
"That was a very strong weekend, even though we struggled more with the weather conditions than other teams. I was very fast in practice, was able to adjust well to the heat, and showed time and again on the track that I can compete at the front. In the Superheat, victory was within reach, and I also fought my way through strongly in the final. We'll build on that."
"A big thank you goes out to my team and to everyone who supported me this weekend. Especially with these temperatures, it was important that we worked as a unit. My physical preparation helped me stay up front despite everything."
