Bruno Greiling stages a strong comeback despite a penalty at the DKM weekend in Muelsen

Muelsen, May 6, 2026. For Bruno Greiling, his debut in the German Karting Championship didn't go quite as planned, but the young driver still sent a strong signal during the race weekend in Muelsen. After a difficult start and intensive setup work together with the team, the 14-year-old improved significantly as the event progressed and was among the leading group starting with the qualifying races.

Greiling was in particularly convincing form on the final day. On the demanding track in Muelsen, where starting from the outside is considered particularly difficult, he lost positions several times in the opening laps. Nevertheless, he consistently worked his way back up the field with determined overtaking maneuvers and visibly strong race pace. Especially in the Superheat, Greiling made a strong statement by setting the fastest lap of the race.

Bruno Greiling also demonstrated his quality in the final. Starting from sixth on the outside, he initially dropped to tenth place after the first lap, but did not let that throw him off his game and fought his way up to third place with a focused performance. He thus originally crossed the finish line in a podium position. However, a subsequent time penalty dropped him back to sixth place in the standings. The team and driver had considered filing an appeal against this decision but ultimately decided against it for sporting reasons.

Despite the disappointment, confidence prevailed after the weekend. Greiling and his team highlighted the strong team performance and the clear progress made across all sessions. The decision by the race stewards was also respected, even though the driver and team viewed the situation differently. For Bruno Greiling, the weekend thus remains proof that much is still possible in the ongoing championship.

"It wasn't quite the start we had hoped for in the German Championship, but we developed strongly as a team over the course of the weekend. After searching for the right setup at the beginning, we were in the leading group starting with the qualifying races. Our race pace was impressive on the final day, and I had a lot of confidence in the kart. The fact that we crossed the finish line in third place after starting in tenth in the first round shows what's possible. The penalty is naturally bitter, but we accept the decision of the race stewards, even if, as a driver and a team, we don't always have to agree.
