Card payments have long been the norm--but which debit card terminal is truly right for your business? The key question isn't "which device?" but "where will payments be processed?" Fixed checkout counters, table service, or field use place completely different demands on modern payment solutions. Choosing the right type of terminal improves processes, reduces wait times, and avoids unnecessary costs in day-to-day operations.

Stationary EC terminals are particularly suitable for fixed checkout stations with a stable power and data connection. They offer constant availability and clear processes at the point of sale. Mobile EC terminals, on the other hand, shine wherever payments need to be made flexibly, such as at a table in a restaurant, on the sales floor, at the customer's location, or in the field.

Especially in the food service industry or for delivery services, mobile devices with Wi-Fi connectivity are often the most practical solution. In traditional retail with a fixed checkout area, however, the stationary terminal usually remains the more economical choice. Many companies now rely on hybrid solutions combining stationary and mobile devices to optimally cover checkout zones and flexible payment points.

In addition to the hardware, ongoing costs are the primary factor determining cost-effectiveness. These include transaction fees, network operation, device rental, card mix, and contract terms. A low entry price does not automatically mean low total costs. Hidden fees, automatic contract renewals, or additional service fees can become costly in the long run.

When selecting an EC terminal, you should therefore consider not only the price but also the entire payment process in your business. Stable connections, appropriate card acceptance, reliable support, and a solution that remains scalable even as your business grows are all important.

PAN Number for Card Payments: Why the Card Number Is Important for Merchants
Card payments have long been part of everyday life in brick-and-mortar retail. As the number of digital transactions rises, so does the importance of technical card data behind the scenes. The so-called PAN--the technical card number for debit, credit, or girocards--plays a central role in this process. It becomes particularly important for merchants when payments need to be verified, incorrect transactions resolved, or chargebacks processed. The PAN, which stands for "Primary

NFC Payments in Retail: Why Contactless Payments Are the Standard Today
Contactless payments are now an integral part of modern checkout processes. Customers expect payments to be fast, reliable, and free of long wait times--whether they're using a girocard, credit card, smartphone, or smartwatch. For retailers, this means that NFC-enabled terminals and well-established processes are no longer just an added service, but the standard at the point of sale. The technology behind contactless payments is called NFC, short for Near Field Communication.
Card Payment Fees: How Merchants Can Accurately Calculate Their Costs
Card Payment Fees: How Merchants Can Accurately Calculate Their Costs
Today, customers expect to be able to pay by card almost anywhere--from retail stores to restaurants to hair salons. For businesses, therefore, the question is no longer whether to offer card payments, but at what cost. However, this is precisely where misunderstandings often arise. That's because the fees advertised by a payment provider often reflect only a portion of the actual monthly costs. Businesses that accept card payments generally pay more
