Mantras for Success – Webinar by Banasthali Professor at Lead School JMA Pilani Rajasthan

In India today every youngster Wants to be a Dreamer, Performer, Achiever and emerge as a Winner. The word winner has different meaning for a Mathematics teacher, Chemistry teacher and Physics teacher. For Bollywood star Sharukh Khan of Baazigar, winning is by loosing. The pandemic has thrown more confusion to students especially with face to face teaching learning gone for a toss in place of virtual class rooms and board examinations going off track for alternate evaluation.

Smt. Jamuna Mishra Academy JMA established in the year 2004 is presently one of the most sought after schools at Pilani considered as Oasis in the desert state of Rajasthan. It is a matter of great pride that alumni of JMA are presently pursuing higher education in various institutions which include NAAC A++ and UGC Category-I, Banasthali Vidyapith which in Times Higher Education 'THE' is Second Best Women's University in global rankings as well as Institution of Eminence BITS Pilani.

JMA Pilani has not only established a rich tradition of observing various days and festivals of international as well as national importance but also invites experts for addressing the students and teachers on a regular basis. COVID-19 has undoubtedly thrown a spanner into such activities in many institutions but the zeal to carry out them is unstoppable. Due to COVID-19, with schools closed keeping the children engaged academically and culturally has become a serious challenge for many educational institutions in India today with a few exceptions such as JMA Pilani.

On 15 June 2021, JMA Pilani organized a webinar titled Mantras for Success to cheer up the students of Class 10 and 12. The expert invited for delivering the same was well known alumnus of BITS Pilani BR Natarajan who is presently Head of Chemical Engineering Department at Banasthali Vidyapith Rajasthan. Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan introduced the speaker to the audience and started the proceedings with recital of Saraswati Suktam from Rig Ved.

Prof Natarajan quoted Shiv Khera for the most famous definition “ Winners do not do different things but do things differently.” Students were fascinated by the quote of Zig Ziglar “ You are born to win but to be a winner you must plan to win, prepare to win and expect to win.” The winner explanation with the example of Lion chasing the deer and cricket field drama of bowler, batsman, fielder mesmerized the audience.

With the Lewis Caroll quote of “If you do not know where you are going any road will take you” Prof Natarajan drove the importance of having an aim – Lakshya in life to become a winner. The Swami Vivekananda quote made the students understand that they have the power to become whatever they dream to become.

Explaining the stages of growth of a tree from planting the seed, germination, sprout forming followed by sapling, Prof Natarajan said that God almighty has given every individual three Shaktis (powers) namely Ichcha (Desire) Shakti, Kriya (Action) Shakti and Gyan (Knowledge) Shakti to make their dreams come true.

Describing the mile race of Roger Bannister Prof Natarajan made the students understand that the impossible can be made possible and the attitude of I cannot do it can be transformed to I can do it. After highlighting the importance of triumvirate Motivation, Aptitude and Attitude for overall personality development, Prof Natarajan invoked Bhagavad Gita to drive the importance of Karma Yoga to the students.

The students were surprised to know that the first and last shloka og Bhagavad Gita was not between Arjun and Krishna when they were explained that the first shloka was by Blind King Dhritarashtra to Sanjay and the last Shloka was by Sanjay to King Dhritarashtra.

Elaborating the strength of Pandava army and Kaurava army, the students were made to understand that despite superior army Kauravas lost the battle of Kurukshetra because Pandava army had the Krishna Arjun Combo representing perfect blend of Knowledge and Skills.

With the help of a shloka students were made to understand that only 25% of their knowledge comes from teacher, 25% by the student own efforts, 25% from the peers and last 25% comes with passage of time.

Prof Natarajan invoked Shahrukh Khan of 2017 Chake Dee! India to make the students understand the importance of Chalees Minutes (meaning 40 minutes} of their virtual class schedule for each subject. The session ended with recitation of Ayushya Sukam from Yajur Ved for bestowing good health to all the students and teachers of JMA Pilani.

It goes without saying that this webinar of Prof Natarajan on Mantars for Success has become talk of not only Pilani town but the entire Shekhawati region of Rajasthan. Rishabh Kashiramka from JMA Pilani provided the technical support for conducting the zoom session and also ensured that all students participants received E Certificates for same.
