Awning that protects large open areas
Manufacturer markilux has brought another "pergola awning" onto the market. A "stretch" version. The toothed belt-driven operating system makes it possible to offer even larger sizes. The use of waterproof fabrics protects reliably against rain as well.
Large awnings often function both as solar and rain protection at the same time. The hospitality sector, in particular, is able to reap the benefits of this. This is because these systems create an area in the open air where guests can sit comfortably at almost any time of the day or year. And this meets the requirements of many guests, i.e. to be able to sit outside in the open air and still be protected to the best possible degree. It is for this reason that markilux has expanded its product range by adding the "pergola stretch". It offers all-round weather protection in impressive dimensions.
Single or multi-field units are possible
Be it in the standard or in the smaller compact version. Now, in the form of the 'pergola stretch', we are offering a model of superlatives", explains Jan Kattenbeck, head of "team : project". The single-field unit is already impressive with its dimensions of seven by seven metres. And as a multi-field unit, it can protect against wind and weather in sizes up to 25 by 7 metres. According to Jan Kattenbeck this shows what it is really capable of. Every field has an independently radio-controlled motor which drives an innovative toothed belt cover transportation system.
Coverboard keeps rain and dirt at bay
In order to provide accentuated light in the evening, the suspension profiles can be decked out with narrow LED strip lighting, so-called LED Lines. But lighting can also be fitted to a cross-beam. ... as can heaters, which provide a cosy outdoor atmosphere. The lighting and heating options can be operated individually in multi-field units. The electrics necessary for this are secreted invisibly inside the awning frame. To protect the retracted cover effectively against dirt and rain, the system has been fitted with a coverboard. The silicone sealing profiles on the inside of the guide tracks sit down on the extended cover and prevent rainwater from being blown under the system. "So that guests can sit high and dry, waterproof and highly flame-retardant fabrics are used in this system", emphasizes Mr. Kattenbeck.
Fitted with a gutter
Moreover, rainwater flows quickly away via a newly designed gutter and the lateral support posts. But, if required, they can be moved either further out or in and allow the installation of vertical roller blinds or side screens, which serve to protect against wind or slanting rain and give additional privacy. "As a member of the "pergola family", the "stretch" model offers another way to turn a large outdoor dining area into a cosy guestroom nearly all year round", Mr Kattenbeck adds.
