According to Jan Kattenbeck, head of "team : project" at markilux, fitting outdoor spaces with awnings in the hospitality sector, industry, commercial sector and public buildings is a challenging task. "This kind of project is already more complex simply due to the large areas involved requiring shading," stresses the solar protection expert. Often, several awning systems are required at the same time, such as the "Pergola" product range, "markilux markant" and the "syncra" or "format" systems, which makes the process even more complex.

Preparing the first steps meticulously
To design this type of project in a transparent, comprehensible and safe manner, markilux has developed an exclusive service. In an eight-step process, "team : project" oversees every phase of the project while qualified specialist dealers from the local region are responsible for installing the projects on site. If business customers want to redevelop an outside area so that it is better-suited to their purposes or can be used all year round, we begin by identifying the type and scope of such a project," says Jan Kattenbeck. In the subsequent project planning phase, we note the specific needs and measure key data on site. "During this phase, it is very important to provide the best-possible advice. We help transform an initial, vague idea into a clear picture of an awning system that perfectly reflects the wishes, needs and spatial situation," adds Mr Kattenbeck. This includes roughly measuring out the floor plan, defining potential products along with the associated colours and options, visualising different aspects and panoramic views and documenting all the elements involved.

From the idea to the finished awning system
The next step of the project involves checking if the desired project is feasible based on the underlying data. This is used to create technical drawings to present the concept. "If the business customer agrees with the draft versions, we move on to the tangible project planning phase. In other words, the finishing touches are added, which can still be adjusted as required," the awning expert explains. If no further changes are required, the specialist dealer responsible for the project can then present an offer.

markilux offers a measuring and installation service
Once the contract has been awarded to the dealer, the detailed measurements are taken, Jan Kattenbeck explains. If necessary, markilux "team : service" can be called upon during this project phase to provide measuring assistance. This takes place with the assistance of professional measuring tools. The service team can also establish the precise order dimensions of the desired products to ensure that the order is correct. The awning system is then made to measure by markilux. In the subsequent planning stages, the specialist dealer obtains the necessary authorisations, coordinates with third-party suppliers and prepares the future installation of the system, for which "team : service" also provides assistance. This can be very helpful for the specialist company, both for models that have not been installed frequently and for new products.

Numerous projects brought to a successful conclusion
"Our eight-step project plan provides a comprehensive service package. It covers all the key steps necessary to plan large-scale solar and weather protection solutions for business customers, so that qualified specialist companies can then build them safely and professionally," explains Mr Kattenbeck. He believes that the success of the projects already completed speaks for itself - since it was launched in 2018, "team : project" can look back on numerous reference projects, both at home and abroad. The topic of large scale shading systems is becoming increasingly popular abroad too. In light of this, markilux now also presents its specially adapted product range in its showrooms in London, Madrid and Middelfarrt in Denmark. The aim is to continue expanding its field of activity in the coming years.
