Banasthali Aayam Club Enthralls audience with Mythology Theme in Kurjaan 2018
Aayam Club by students of Banasthali AIM & ACT Apaji Institute of Mathematics and Applied Computer Technology derives its inspiration from the Latin Philosophical proposition by French Philosopher Rene Descartes “Cogito ergo sum” which means "I think, therefore I am".Aayam club is not only known for the magazine published as Aayam but also for the annual festival Kurjaan which is different from other such festivals. For 2018 Aayam organized its annual fest Kurjaan 2018 on 13th and 14th March and the theme focus this year was on the grandeur of ancient epics with the theme mythology.
The two days event Kurjaan commenced with a lecture on photography techniques by Mr Mahesh which enhanced photography skills of participating students. It was then followed by “Convexion” a fun from junk event, in which participants were asked to make a collage depicting the theme mythology from the junk material. Participants showcased their creative abilities minds and made some marvelouscollages. The winners for the same were Pallavi Jain and Divya Bhauguna.
The inauguration of Kurjaan 2018 took place at the Gyan Mandir Auditorium of Banasthali. The first event was a quiz “Minerva” which tested the knowledge of participants, in a team of two, on mythologies of world which consisted of Roman, Greek, Mayan, Indian etc. Runner ups for the event were Anupriya Pandey and Bhawana Pandey while winners were Vijaya Tripathi and Sukriti Shukla. The quiz event left an urge in everyone’s heart to grasp the essence of every culture and mythology. After telling the creative myths of Chinese and Egyptian, the last event of first day was “Taabir” which was speak and draw event which tested two most fundamental skills i.e. speaking and drawing. Simran Duggal and Preeti Chaudhary were winners for the same.
The second day of Kurjaan began with the Poetry recitation event “Kavyanjali”. Participants with their beautiful compositions made a surreal ambience and got everybody enchanted in the melody. For Hindi, Runner up was Sakshi Gupta and winner was Vatika Chaudhary, for English runner up was Jagrati Pahaljwani and winner was Jigyasa Pareek. The last event was “Gaatha”, which required the participants to act on a mythological tale with a twisted end. The teams elucidated the twists perfectly and portrayed them in their act remarkably. Naina and group who performed the Shiv Sati (Dakshayani) episode with a twist stole the crown. Winners of Aayam “Aaina” painting event was Vaishali Soni, “Tasveer” photography event was Rayshi Sood and fables for tomorrow event “Harbinger” was Shivanshi Gandhi.
Prof BR Natarajan Head of the Chemical Engineering Department Banasthali did a surprise event for Gaatha – Twist and Act with the famous characters of Mahabharat Karan Arjun Abhimanyu, Krishna and Ekalavya who compete for admission in a college in modern times and had the entire audience roaring with laughter and at the same time provoking their thoughts. The celebrations came to an end with award of prizes for various events conducted.
The students and faculty who participated in Aayam club Kurjaan 2018 indeed left with beaming faces and pride that they were part of an institution which is a jewel in the crown among the women’s universities not only in India today but across the globe.
