Zerone is not just a word or slogan or jargon but a Philosophy which tells that it does not matter if one starts at zero but no one can stop you from becoming number one.

The Chemical engineering department of Banasthali came into operation in 2008 and Innovative Chemical Engineers - ICE Club has been organizing various events round the year which includes ZERONE (Discovering the Undiscovered) a three day techno cultural festival considered one of the most popular ones in the campus. The concept to commissioning of this event brings the very best of core branch knowledge, interdisciplinary approach, team work, ability to meet deadlines, creativity, social connect and sociability among the students organizing the same.

ZERONE 2018 happened during 08 – 10 Feb 2018. The grand inauguration of same was done on 8 Feb 2018 at Gyan Mandir Auditorium with auspicious lamp lighting by a stellar constellation of Banasthali Deans which included Prof Vinay Sharma (Science & Technology), Prof Shaily Sharma (Automation), Prof Sarvesh Paliwal (Instructions), Prof Rashmi Sharma (Earth Sciences) along with Prof Jaya Dwivedi (HoD Chemistry) and Prof S GopalaKrishnan (Head Training & Placement. Addressing the audience Prof Vinay Sharma wished ZERONE and Team ICE a roaring success.

The submission events with winners in brackets for ZERONE 2018 included Tech-x-Banasthali (Kopal Agarwal BTech CS Second Year), The Survivor (Nitya Maheshwari BTech BT First Year), Amnesia (Shatakshi Sharma BTech EI Second year), M(Ad) Angles (Anchal Tyagi BTech IT First Year with BTech CS First Year students Pallavi Samant, Anjali Singh, Pranjali Dwivedi, and Harsimran Kaur) , Mistake-O-Venta (Suchitra Mantry BTech CS First Year) and Chalk Carving (Aditi Uniyal BTech EC Second Year).

The action events with winners in bracket included Brain Wave (Adhya Sharma BTech IT Third Year), Avishkar (Anusha Agarwal, Bhawna Yadav and Somya BTech Mechatronics second year), Daredevils (Varsha Yadhav BTech EE Second Year), Scrudu (Apurva Dey & Saumya Sharma BTech IT First and Second Year), Her Story (Sneha Vardhan BTech E&I Second Year), Sci-Fi Race (Shreyanshi Tiwari Btech EC Second Year, Chetna Gupta BTech EE Third Year, Megha Btech CS Third Year), Panache (Parul Mishra & Shejal Singh BTech CE Third Year), Ultimate Detective (Shreyanshi Tiwari BTech EC Second Year, Akansha Kathait BTech EC First Year, Saumya Pandey BTech EE Second Year, Srishti Prakash BTech IT Third Year), Phineas and Ferb Backyard (Shivani Tiwari BTech EC Second year, Shreya Tomar BTech CS Second Year, Nivriti Verma & Palak Dubey BTech EE Second Year), Concord (Rizu Gupta – Jyoti Prabha – Shreya Kanduri BTech CS Third Year), i-Cube (Spriya Agarwal BTech EC First Year), Pintura (Nivriti Verma Btech EE Second Year & Bhavna Joshi BTech CE Second Year) were the other events. The Creatives for various events by the ICE Team guided by Prof Satish Shukla became talk of the entire Banasthali campus.

The concluding event for ZERONE 2018 was the cultural program IGNITE at Gyan Mandir auditorium. The Guests of Honours included alumnus of one among top ranking institution BITS Pilani Smt Saroj Bagadia presently DGM at Rajasthan Finance Corporation Jaipur and Dr Saulat Ali Khan Director Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Arabic Persian Research Institute – MAAPRI Tonk. Ignite included Ganesh Vandana, Dangal Dance, Old & new Hindi film songs, Fusion dance, Prize winning Her Story of Meira Kumar, Poems on Zindagi and Maa, Comedy Skit, Fusion songs, Gujarati Dance, Mime on Gandhi, Guitar playing, Standup comedy, Krumping highlighting evil of drug addiction, Nukad Natak highlighting Sanitary napkins, Charlie Dance, thought provoking skit on old age home and the extra high voltage Bhangra dance.

Smt Saroj Bagadia gave away prizes and in her inspiring speech shared her experience as Deputy Director Women Protection Cell for the entire state of Rajasthan and offered to mentor aspiring entrepreneurs from Banasthali. Dr Saulat Ali Khan also handed over prizes to several winners and in his speech loaded with quotes from Persian mystic and dervish Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi the best selling poet of USA highlighted the role of humanities, arts, music etc for those pursuing science and technology and invited students and faculty of Banasthali to MAAPRI Tonk which houses not only the largest (Dimensions: Length 10 feet 5 inches, width 7 feet 6 inches) handwritten Quran but also Ramayan, Mahabharat, Bhagavad Gita and Ram Charit Manas in Persian written during mughal era and much more. Prof BR Natarajan Head of Chemical Engineering thanked both of them including their family members who had accompanied them and handed them over a glittering memento on behalf of Banasthali. Prof Natarajan also congratulated ICE Club team and Chemical Engineering faculty for putting the very best of their efforts and the entire Banasthali Pariwar for the success of ZERONE 2018.

When the ZERONE celebrations ended, the students and faculty who had come for the function left with beaming faces and pride that they were indeed part of an institution which is a jewel in the crown among the women’s universities not only in India today but across the globe.
