Proud Alumnus of Banasthali Dr Anu Brookins CISCO USA Peaks with Passion Quotient for Alma mater

For Hindus it is Kashi Rameswaram, for Muslims it is Mecca, for Christians it is Vatican, for Buddhists it is Bodh Gaya, for Sikhs it is Amritsar and for Proud to be Banasthalites it is their Alma mater Banasthali.

Dr Anu Brookins is presently Leader Digital Process Continuous Improvement Centre of Excellence CISCO USA. Prior to that she had taught at University of North Carolina Charlotte and had been Vice President Customers Insights & Analytics Belk USA, Master Black Belt Risk Management Executive Bank of America, Director Quality Transamerica Real Estate Tax Service, Senior Consultant Sabre Airline Solutions, Senior Research Statistician SAS. She holds a PhD and MS in Operations Research from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (1989 – 1993) and a highly coveted Dual Degree Masters in Computer Science and Mathematics with Distinction from Birla Institute of Technology and Science – BITS Pilani (1984 – 1989). Anu’s mother Prof Sudha Narayanan had played a stellar role in establishing the Home Science Department at Banasthali and Anu did her schooling at Banasthali.

Dr Anu Brookins took time from her hectic schedule to visit her beloved Alma mater during 3 – 4 Dec 2017. She had an interactive session with faculty members of Computer Science, Mathematics, Management and Law and exchanged ideas on whole spectrum of issues of contemporary technological interest. Apart from Prof Aditya Shastri Vice Chancellor, Dr Anu had detailed discussions with various senior officers of Banasthali which included Prof Siddhartth Shastri Vice President, Prof Ina Shastri Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof KD Joshi, Prof Sarla Pareek, Prof Shalini Chandra, Prof Shaily Sharma, Prof Kiran Sarna, and Prof Vandana Goswami. After visiting the state of the art Bajaj Automation Centre, Dr Anu remarked “ This is so impressive- a new era for Banasthali and a huge step forward for our girls.”

She also visited the various landmarks in Banasthali campus such as Jiwan Kutir, Kala Mandi, the market place, Brahma Temple, Flying Club, Lakshmibai Maidan, Veer Bala Maidan and 41 Arvind Niwas her home etc. At Sur Mandir, Dr Anu displayed her multi talent by singing a song solo and duet with Prof Sarla.

Addressing the school students in the assembly, Dr Anu sharing her life story travelled down the memory lane of her own school days and urged the students to bring glory to their beloved Alma mater by being dreamers, performers and achievers. When she sang not one but two songs, there was a thunderous round of applause. Dr Anu has expressed her whole hearted cooperation for strengthening the academic core as well Research and Development activities at Banasthali.

The students and faculty who attended the session with Dr Anu Brookins left with beaming faces and pride that they were indeed part of an institution which is a jewel in the crown among the women’s universities not only in India today but across the globe.
