Romans believe that Janus is the god of beginnings & ends, presiding over every entrance & departure while at Banasthali it is one of the most popular events celebrated by the students of Life Sciences, Bio Technology, Chemistry, Pharmacy and Chemical Engineering.

It is indeed a matter of pride that the Faulty of Science and Technology has been instrumental in the rapid academic and research growth of Banasthali. Under Life Sciences, apart from doctoral programmes, the degrees offered include BTech / MTech Biotechnology, BSc Botany / Zoology / Biotechnology, MSc Biotechnology, MSc Bioscience, MSc Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, MTech / MSc Bioinformatics. Presently the Shri Radha Kissen Kanoria Centre for Advanced Studies in Bioscience and Biotechnology is housed in state of the art building Jeev Mandir.

The department of Chemistry established in 1963 offers BSc / MSc Chemistry and PhD. Pharmacy department established in 2008 which features in 2017 among top 25 in India under the coveted National Institutional Ranking Framework NIRF of MHRD Govt of India offers BPharm, MPharm and PhD. The 2008 established chemical engineering department offers BTech, MTech as well as PhD.

The three day festival Janus at Banasthali for 2017 was held during 3-5 October. The events on 3 Oct 2017 included Review Writing, Best out of Waste, Scientific Mehendi and endorsement. The formal inauguration of Janus was on 4 Oct 2017 took place at Gyan Mandir Auditorium with Chief Guest Prof P C Sharma Director Research and Consultancy Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Delhi.

Amidst singing of Saraswati Vandana by a group of students, the auspicious lamp lighting was done by the Chief Guest with other dignitraies who included Prof Vinay Sharma Dean, Prof Sarvesh Paliwal Pharmacy Head, Prof Jaya Dwivedi Chemisry Head and Prof BR Natarajan Chemical Engineering Head. Prof Vinay Sharma in his welcome address did an anatomy and surgery of science education and research in India and urged the GenNext students to make use of the excellent research facilities in India today for their career goals.

Prof PC Sharma minced no words in stating that Banasthali is indeed one among the top educational institutions in India today with excellent infrastructure, facilities and well qualified faculty dedicated to women education and empowerment. His talk on current issues in Life Sciences and Biotechnology drew a loud round of applause. The other events on second day included Quiz, Exhibition, Scientific Identification, Debate, Leaf Painting, Spell Bee etc and ended with a grand dinner party. The third day of Janus had power point presentation on various topics by students, Extempore and Pictionary and ended with a cultural program fully loaded with dance drama and music.

The students and faculty who attended and participated in Literati Fest left with beaming faces and pride that they were indeed part of an institution which is a jewel in the crown among the women’s universities not only in India today but across the globe.
