Bluetooth flyers in movie theaters

From today, the international movie theaters chain Utopolis opens a new communication channel with their visitors. Visitors can download movie trailers on their mobile phones for free via Bluetooth from the hotspots provided by Alterwave, the leader in proximity marketing and communication . "We pay great attention for our cinemas to give a warm and welcome feeling," explains Country Manager Stijn Vanspauwen. "With Bluetooth we can welcome each visitor individually and make his or her cinema experience even richer. We want to provide people with an optimal service, now they have better information about the film and we offer them relevant information according to their needs. "

Endless possibilities

The possibilities of this new technology are endless: visitors can download complete movie trailers on their mobile phone, or received flashy wallpapers or get an overview of the latest films releases. Special offers, promotions and coupons for snacks in the candy corner are among the possibilities. Visitors can even be reminded that they must turn off their mobile phones before the movie starts.

The project is driven together by Utopolis and Alterwave. This new service is now available in all Utopolis movie theaters thoughout Belgium. To use the service, visitors are invited to turn on the Bluetooth functionnality on their mobile phones. A question appears on the phone screen, asking whether they want to use the service. If answered yes, they receive messages for free via Bluetooth, they can view them instantly or later, and even send them to their friends, creating a viral mean of distribution.

The service is provided totally free for the visitor since no use is made of the traditional network operator, the whole interaction being 100% carried out over Bluetooth. The other benefit of using Bluetooth is the speed of download, even for large movie trailers. Furthermore, the system records mobile devices having already received the information: each visitor receives the same content only once on his/her device.

Ecological

With the Bluetooth initiative, at this moment unique in Belgium, Utopolis offers an environmentally friendly alternative to the traditional flyer or poster.
