A pioneer in the development of innovative applications using the wireless communications technology Bluetooth, the Belgian company Alterwave’s latest innovation offers Batibouw visitors free information about the fair directly on their mobile phones.
Brussels, 28th February 2008 – The 49th international construction, renovation and interior finishings fair (Batibouw), which will be held at Heysel from 28th February to 9th March 2008, will also be a window for technology. Visitors using the footbridge that crosses the Chaussée Romaine and links the exhibition area car parks, will be welcomed by messages sent directly to their mobile phones thanks to Bluetooth technology. It was the Belgian company Alterwave who developed this new technology at the request of Batibouw organisers.
Sent free of charge to visitors whose mobile phones are equipped with Bluetooth technology, the information is transmitted via terminals placed in the entrance hall just after the footbridge. An initial animated message welcomes visitors and suggests they visit Build-It, a new exhibition area dedicated to the software programs used in construction. Thanks to the data provided by Be-Mobile, other messages will allow visitors to follow traffic conditions in the Brussels region and on the Ring in real time.
Set up in collaboration with the company Fisa, which is organising the fair, and the Belgian company Alterwave, this device is just the beginning of a real revolution in consumer interaction within the framework of events the size of Batibouw. These types of terminals will allow all sorts of information to be sent: images, videos, music files, maps, traffic or weather information, coupons and even data distributed via RSS feed (Really Simple Syndication).
