Press release from: Stories of Faith Ltd.

Rome/Dublin, 27 March 2006 (SoF). The Vatican welcomes the independent multi-platform media project “Stories of Faith” by the Irish fund of the same name. During a meeting with Wolfram R. Bauer and Carola Klessen, initiators and producers of the project at the Vatican, Dr. Angelo Scelzo from the Vatican State Office stressed the importance of realizing “Stories of Faith”. He appreciated “Stories of Faith” as a world tolerance project, which aims at promoting inter-religious understanding during the current, difficult period of globalization and inter-faith conflict. Stories of Faith is a Dublin-based 76 million Euro media project, which will include feature films, DVDs and books visualising the five large world religions’ main concerns. Dr. Scelzo stressed that, without wanting to influence the project in any way, the Vatican would see the development of this international series of feature films with great interest.

During a private tour around St. Peter’s, Archbishop Piero Monni, who used to be in charge of international tourism at the Vatican, emphasized the interest of young people in basic religious values. He said that the management of Stories of Faith Ltd. stroke the right note with its selection of topics. According to Monni it is desirable that the interest of people all over the world in cultural and religious values of other peoples grows instead of fears and conflicts being stirred. This was also one of the basic concerns of Pope Benedict XVI., who is seeking to promote inter-religious dialogue.

The Stories of Faith Ltd. management will also speak with prominent representatives of the other major world religions.
