Magdeburg (Germany), Oct 15th, 2008 – This year’s "Internationale Funkausstellung" (IFA) was enriched by yet another great innovation, the interactive audiobook. The idea is from the new company, Audiogent in Magdeburg, that was awarded 5000€ from the startup contest "Mit Multimedia erfolgreich starten" held by the German Ministry of Economy and Technology.
Just a few days later Audiogent came in third in the field of seventy contestants at the Businessplan-Wettbewerb Sachsen-Anhalt contest which awarded the young entrepreneurs another 1000€. Looking back at this years achievements so far, Audiogent was elected Germany's second most innovative IT project in 2008 (IQ Innovationspreis) followed by two business awards in June (bpw) and July (start2grow).
Project manager Cornelius Huber is pleased that their project is arousing enthusiasm among research institutes, accountants and testers alike, and this innovative medium has a great future ahead of it. He believes interactive audiobooks will soon be established as a new type of entertainment along with computer games, movies and movies.
Audiogent’s interactive audiobooks let the listeners develop the storyline with its plot and characters. Audiobook fans can decide for themselves their level of interaction, from just listening or slightly adjusting the storyline to directing every second of the story. Intelligent continuation is incorporated in the interactive audiobook that prevents the characters from being unrealistically scared if they have bravely opened a mysterious door before thus developing consistency for the characters. Listeners may actively design the story on their way to the store and passively listen to it on the drive back.
The interactive audiobook is not just applicable for entertainment. The technology can be applied for educational purposes as well as in the fields of medicine and tourism. Audiogent is looking forward to testing the limits of this medium together with creative authors and visionaries.
