Lorentz delivers 60 pump systems for a UNDP project in Panama
LORENTZ, a German manufacturer of solar-operated pumps and solar tracking systems, and its Panama partner PASS, S.A., have been commissioned to deliver and install 60 pump systems in Panama. The installation will take place by end of April 2006. The President of Panama, Martín Torrijos, handed over the order to Mr Vicente Puga, CEO of PASS, last week. The pump systems PS200 HR-07 will pump water from 25 m deep wells. On sunny days the flow rate will be as high as 12 liters/minute. The electric power is provided by a solar-generator of 150 Wp. The pumps will be deployed for livestock watering. The farmers in the project will provide storage tanks, mounted 5.0 m high, to allow gravity flow water distribution without any further equipment.
The programme is a pilot project by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in co-operation with Panama's MIDA (Ministerio de Desarrollo Agropecuario, Ministry for Agriculture).
Bernt Lorentz GmbH & Co. KG has been established in 1993 and since then developed a series of high efficiency pumps, especially suitable for solar-operation. To further increase the output of solar installations, LORENTZ offers a range of solar trackers that increase the energy output of solar modules by up to 40%. LORENTZ installations operate in more than 60 countries worldwide.
