This block will highlight the topics that make the Islands so distinctive and special when it comes to Tourism and Cities. Concerns about sustainability, whether energy, economic, social, etc., are inevitable today, as well as the need to include strategies that guarantee the maintenance and desirable evolution of the population's standard of living, ensuring a natural and cultural balance.
SmartFunchal is the international event that will bring together living forces, businesses and citizens to discuss and reflect on smart cities and smart tourism. It will be held in the Madeiran city that gives it its name, on May 11 and 12.
Mobinteg’s CEO, Fernando Pinto, will, in his speech, present the pioneer accessible tourism platform, SMIITY. This free app, compatible with iOS and Android devices, allows regions, cities and monuments to interact with citizens and tourists by ensuring access to useful information when they need it and without having to search for it.
This interaction is made through Beacons, small signal emitters that send information to the user's mobile device, which is received via Bluetooth Low Energy, providing a richer, more dynamic and complete user experience. SMIITY also functions as an audioguide, dispensing the use of additional equipment.
In SmartFunchal there will be four major themes: SMART CITIES (Sustainability, Society, Strategy, Mobility, Resilience, Rural and Urban Design, Planning, Living Labs, Education, Health, Housing, Aging); SMART TOURISM (Apps, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, iBeacons); INDUSTRY (IoT, BigData, Analytics, Sensing, Programming, Cloud, Smart Grids, WiFi); and COMMUNICATION AND CREATIVITY (Citizen Engagement, Social Media, Branding, Design, Talent, Culture, Creation, Storytelling).
