BPM Software: New Transatlantic Alliance for Digital Sovereignty and Open Source
Munich / Scottsdale, AZ, April 1 2025 - The Munich-based software company CIB, which specializes in process automation, will be cooperating with Summit58 , a U.S. consulting firm for workflow and process management based in Scottsdale, Arizona. The aim of the collaboration is to launch and distribute CIB seven, an open source fork of the business process management platform Camunda 7, to the American market. The new offering will strengthen the digital sovereignty of companies in North and Central America. With this transatlantic alliance, CIB is responding to the growing demand in America for a stable, long-term alternative to the discontinued Camunda 7 open source platform, especially from customers and users who aren't able to spend the time or money to migrate to the Camunda 8 closed source solution. As an experienced local partner, Summit58 will install, implement and adapt CIB seven for North and Central American companies.
Open Source versus Closed Source: A Win for Customers
As an open source alternative, CIB seven offers full transparency, greater flexibility and the greatest possible independence from the supplier - values that are becoming increasingly important in these times of increasingly forced commitments to proprietary systems. With CIB seven, customers can seamlessly continue to use their existing processes from Camunda 7, meaning migration is not required, instead of switching to the Camunda 8 closed source solution, which is expensive, architecturally complex and time-consuming to administer and manage. In addition, CIB seven protects enterprise customers' investments through the long-term support that CIB and Summit58 jointly guarantee.
CIB founder Ulrich Brandner is pleased about the market entry in America and summarizes the advantages for enterprise customers as follows: "Through CIB seven, together with our new partner Ryan Johnston and his team from Summit58, we are now strengthening the digital sovereignty of customers on the other side of the Atlantic. Whether in the cloud or on premise, whether companies, authorities or associations - organizations of all kinds retain full control over their data and processes with our solution."
A strong partner for market entry in the USA
Summit58 was the partner of choice for Ulrich Brandner and CIB to enter the American market. Founder Ryan Johnston and his team have extensive and long-standing experience in the field of open source BPM platforms and process automation and are familiar with the specific obstacles companies in North and Central America experience in their automation projects. Ryan Johnston points out that he has spoken with many companies in the U.S., Canada and throughout the Western Hemisphere regarding their process automation needs, and many are looking for alternatives to proprietary solutions like Camunda 8. "With our partner CIB and their CIB seven software, we now offer a robust and powerful alternative for both existing Camunda 7 users and companies who want to use a truly opensource, flexible solution for their new process automation projects."
