CIB seven: High demand and growing use in practice

CIB seven: High demand and growing use in practice

Munich, December 4, 2025 - In its current December issue, the renowned iX magazine once again reports on CIB seven and praises the BPM engine as an independent, future-proof product and a reliable open source alternative to Camunda 7. iX editor Achim Born emphasizes that with the new release 2.1, CIB seven covers the full range of features offered by Camunda 7.24 - including modern user interfaces, enterprise options, and a clear development strategy.

Camunda 7 CE at an end - CIB seven closes the gap

The iX article explains the background: No more security or maintenance updates will be released for Camunda 7 Community Edition after the last feature release. While the commercial Enterprise Edition will continue to be supported until 2032 at the latest, Camunda is shifting its strategic focus entirely to Camunda 8 with a new workflow engine.

CIB seven is thus taking on a central role in the ecosystem: as an open-source fork of Camunda 7, the platform not only offers long-term support, but also continues to evolve with independent releases - and is now explicitly classified by iX as a standalone product.

Modern UI modules, enterprise features, and new analytics platform

The article also shows how CIB seven is expanding its range of features beyond Camunda 7. Version 2.0 already integrated new UI modules from the low-code construction kit CIB flow, including:
• Tasklist - efficient task management
• Cockpit - visual monitoring dashboards
• Admin - flexible rights and role management

At the same time, CIB seven offers security patches, hotfixes, long-term support, and all known enterprise features from Camunda 7 in its commercial editions.
Another focus of the iX article is the new CIB ins7ght analysis platform: It evaluates process data, visualizes workflows, and reveals optimization potential. CIB has also announced a marketplace for 2026, which will provide add-ons from the company and the community.

High demand and growing use in practice

CIB seven is attracting a lot of interest internationally: The platform has already received several hundred inquiries and is being used productively by over 1,000 companies.

As iX summarizes, CIB also confirms:
"CIB seven is the open, long-term supported Camunda 7 alternative - with additional value from the CIB product world."
