Regarding Immunization: "Is Science Alone Our Guide?"
"The Seventh-day Adventist Church places strong emphasis on health and well-being. The Adventist health emphasis is based on biblical revelation, the inspired writing of E.G. White, co-founder of the Church, and on peer-reviewed scientific literature."
Is peer-reviewed scientific literature infallible? Is this the new standard of our faith? Are our beliefs based on scripture and the opinions of men? Did our Adventist forefathers accept the truth of the seventh-day Sabbath after reading peer-reviewed literature? Obviously not. If they had, we would be keeping Sunday. Unfortunately, a dangerous precedent has been established in Adventism that says that our beliefs are now based on scripture and peer-reviewed literature.
"But God will have a people upon the earth to maintain the Bible, and the Bible only, as the standard of all doctrines, and the basis of all reforms. The opinions of learned men, the deductions of science, the creeds or decisions of ecclesiastical councils, as numerous and discordant as are the churches which they represent, the voice of the majority,-not one or all of these should be regarded as evidence for or against any point of religious faith. Before accepting any doctrine or precept, we should demand a plain "Thus saith the Lord" in its support." (Great Controversy, p. 595).
PEARL is an association of Seventh-day Adventists who are concerned about the church's 2015 GC ADCOM statement on vaccinations and its detriment to religious liberty. They published an article titled "Regarding Immunization: Is Science Alone Our Guide?" that shows how the church has gone so deep into peer-reviewed medical science that they do not even realize that they are abandoning our fundamental beliefs.
