Kevin Roberts Says the Heritage Foundation's New "Saving

What is now evident is that the initiative to establish Sunday as a uniform day of rest is much further along than initially thought. The president of the Heritage Foundation, Kevin Roberts, has already actively participated in formal public policy discussions related to the document "Saving America by Saving the Family: A Foundation for the Next 250 Years" with members of the U.S. Congress and the Trump administration. This document outlines policy proposals aimed at preserving the family and calls for the restoration of a shared, collective rhythm of rest by explicitly designating Sunday as the nationally recognized and civilly protected day.

What stands out, according to a recent interview published by the National Catholic Register, is that Roberts reveals that the document "Saving America" is primarily aimed at the U.S. Congress and that the document urges President Trump to implement it through executive orders.

The National Catholic Register published the following on January 12, 2026:

• "The Heritage Foundation, led by former Wyoming Catholic College President Kevin Roberts, released its proposals to support family life amid low marriage and birth rates. 'We believe that this first foray into family policy by Heritage will not only cause a real important national conversation,' Roberts told reporters Jan. 12, 'but one that also improves the discussion' in the U.S. Congress." [1]

• "Roberts said Heritage is 'pretty confident' the Trump administration will be amenable to the policy proposals contained in the paper, stating that 'the good rhetoric from the administration, including the president himself, has signified that they understand that this is a civilizational problem." [1]

• "Roberts said conversations on Capitol Hill with members of both the House and Senate 'have gone exceedingly well' but noted that 'very few' of those conversations took place with Democrats. The reason for this, he said, was that 'some Democrats have a negative reaction anytime they hear safety net reform.' However, he said, 'I think there will be a lot of thoughtful people on the center-left who will want to be engaged in this conversation, [and] they're going to appreciate that we're looking at this certainly not from a partisan or even ideological standpoint but from the lens of social science." [1]

• "The report calls on President Donald Trump to issue a series of executive orders requiring the federal government to explicitly detail how its actions help marriage and family and to block actions that discriminate against marriage and family." [1]

• "The Heritage Foundation president also expressed hope that states eventually will seek to compete with one another 'in terms of their own policies for the most advantageous incentives." [1]

What this interview makes clear is that the push for Sunday as a uniform day of rest is no longer just talk-it's quickly becoming something politicians are preparing to put into action. Speaking to the National Catholic Register, Kevin Roberts openly acknowledged that the Heritage Foundation has already moved its proposals well inside the machinery of government-reporting productive conversations across Capitol Hill and confidence in its reception in the Trump Administration.

When policy proposals that include Sunday rest are presented as nonpartisan, justified by "social science," welcomed by top political leadership, and positioned for both federal executive orders and state-level competition, it becomes clear that the groundwork for a Sunday law is largely complete. In that setting, Sunday as a uniform day of rest is no longer a fringe idea-it is being actively promoted and agitated as the moral and family-centered solution before those who have the authority to turn it into law.

What will it take for us to wake up? How many more clear signs are needed before we recognize that we don't have unlimited time to prepare, to reform ourselves, and to take the final message of Revelation 14 to the world? The warning signal is already flashing. The movement for Sunday legislation is no longer something distant, theoretical, or hidden; it is advancing openly through media interviews. If events like these don't awaken God's people to the seriousness of the hour, then nothing will. God is calling His people to wake up, to straighten out their lives, to raise their voices, and to finish the work, because soon the world will be forced to choose between God's commandment and the traditions of men during the crisis of the mark of the beast.

Let Us Stop Avoiding the Real Issues
As the 2025 General Conference Session convenes, with believers from around the world watching and praying, there is an unmistakable sense of frustration among many of the faithful. While we will be given lectures about returning our tithes and offerings-as outlined in the proposed 2025 Church Manual agenda-we must ask ourselves: is this truly the burning concern on the hearts of God's remnant people at this critical hour in history?
