Ghostface Horror Character in an Adventist Pulpit

Press release from: Advent Messenger

Galatians 5:9 states unequivocally, "A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump," a warning against permitting even minor instances of biblical compromise. In other words, if small negative influences are allowed to spread, they will eventually corrupt an entire movement.

On March 17, 2024, Brother Fabio posted a video with the following caption in the Seventh-day Adventist News outlet Baluarte:

"This dramatic scene that we are seeing occurred in an Adventist church located in the town of Guayaquil, Ecuador. You can observe a theatrical performance-dance included-where characters appear dressed in the typical "Ghostface" mask. According to an Internet search, "Ghostface" is a fictional character, a killer who peculiarly uses trickery to hunt down and kill his victims in creative horror movie-style ways. Evidently, and according to what can be seen in the video, this particular representation was carried out in the pulpit, inside the temple, and in the Sabbath programming." [1]

May God have mercy on us and keep us faithful as the shaking sweeps throughout Adventism. Where are the faithful preachers of righteousness who will hold back the hands of evildoers and redirect us to the paths to which God has called us? Where are those who feel the urgent responsibility to fight against the prevailing iniquity?

"Who are standing in the counsel of God at this time? Is it those who virtually excuse wrongs among the professed people of God, and murmur in their hearts, if not openly, against those who would reprove sin? Is it those who take their stand against them, and sympathize with those who commit wrong?-No, indeed! These, unless they repent, and leave the work of Satan in oppressing those who have the burden of the work, and in holding up the hands of sinners in Zion, will never receive the mark of God's sealing approval. They will fall in the general destruction of all the wicked, represented by the five men bearing slaughter weapons. Mark this point with care; those who receive the pure mark of truth, wrought in them by the power of the Holy Ghost, represented by the man in linen, are those "that sigh and cry for all the abominations that are done" in the church. Their love for purity and the honor and glory of God is such, and they have so clear a view of the exceeding sinfulness of sin, that they are represented as being in an agony, even sighing and crying" (Review and Herald, June 8, 1886).
