Ellen G. White's Warning and Its Fulfillment in Worldly Adventist Academies

On December 16, 2025, the Seventh-day Adventist Academy in Pulierranghy, India, held a Christmas program that featured numerous Santa Clauses, played by students and faculty. [1] The students jumped, shouted, and danced to loud music, while the staff on stage moved in a manner reminiscent of pure paganism.

Ellen G. White issued one of her most solemn end-time warnings-one that speaks to many of our institutions. Referring to a bedlam of noise and shouting, she was shown would occur "just before the close of probation." She wrote of shouting, drums, music, and dancing so overpowering that "the senses of rational beings will become so confused that they cannot be trusted to make right decisions." This statement is profoundly prophetic, and its fulfillment can be seen anytime Adventist academies and churches adopt loud, entertainment-driven music styles that are identical to the methods of ancient paganism and contemporary party events.

The Spirit of Prophecy was exposing a counterfeit spirituality-one that substitutes genuine spiritual conviction for emotional stimulation. In the scenario she described heavy drumming, amplified sound, and uncontrolled movements. The result is a confusion so deep that rational judgment itself is impaired. This danger is heightened by the historical and biblical parallels contained in the Holy Scriptures. Pagan worship-most notably the worship of Baal-relied on loud, repetitive rhythm and physical exertion to produce a false jubilation. The prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel cried aloud, leaped upon the altar, and worked themselves into a frenzy, yet the display had no divine origin or power. When Adventist music programs adopt the same styles-regardless of Christian lyrics or intentions-they borrow from the devisings of Satan while invoking the name of God.

Sister White warned that such practices would appear near the close of probation. Wherever our institutions adopt loud, drum-pounding music that resembles worldly entertainment, her prophecy stands fulfilled. According to inspired counsel, this is not the working of God, but preparation for deception-one of the most subtle and dangerous forms Satan employs in the last days. As long as church administrators knowingly tolerate this kind of apostasy, God will never pour out His Spirit upon them. The Latter Rain will fall only upon those who humbly obey and uphold the counsels God Himself gave through the Spirit of Prophecy. Heaven will entrust the finishing of the work to a people who cherish light, walk in obedience, and refuse to compromise truth.

"The things you have described as taking place in Indiana, the Lord has shown me would take place just before the close of probation. Every uncouth thing will be demonstrated. There will be shouting, with drums, music, and dancing. The senses of rational beings will become so confused that they cannot be trusted to make right decisions. And this is called the moving of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit never reveals itself in such methods, in such a bedlam of noise. This is an invention of Satan to cover up his ingenious methods for making of none effect the pure, sincere, elevating." (Selected Messages, Vol. 2, p. 36).
