Shekhawati Rajasthan Pilani Lead School JMA Celebrates UN World Bicycle Day

No one has doubt that bicycles represent immense freedom and great fun. Today there are an estimated 1 billion bicycles in the world roughly as many as passenger cars. Their use spans all age groups and once you learn, you never forget. They are good for one's health physical and mental as well as good for planet earth. Bikes are popular and practical, providing exercise and transporting not only to school, stores and work but to a more sustainable future.

As per Resolution adopted by the United Nations UN General Assembly on 12 April 2018, the first official World Bicycle Day was celebrated on June 3, 2018. Every year on 03 June, World Bicycle Day is celebrated to demonstrate this simple machine and to highlight the importance of non-motorized transport for achieving the SDGs Sustainable Development Goals as well as for combating climate change. The bicycle is undoubtedly a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transportation.

Along with the students, teachers, staff and students enthusiastically participated in the same and pedaled their way down the roads of Pilani town and drove the point that bicycle is a simple, affordable, reliable, and environment-friendly means of transport. Cycling also works wonders for mental health and is a great way to beat the daily stress.
