The Construction Centre

The Construction Centre

The Construction Centre released today its assessment of online search trends for building and construction according to its website statistics for the second quarter of 2007. The construction Centre is one of the UK’s largest and busiest directories enabling industry professionals and consumers to find thousands of products and services in one central online location.

The Construction Centre highlighted the most popular search terms for the last quarter as fencing, bricks and internal doors. This falls in line with the continued focus by contractors on building projects across the UK in order to help rectify the ongoing shortage in new housing. Other popular terms were sited as kitchens, staircases, bathroom products and roof trusses.

The Construction Centre website has also seen a significant rise in searches for industry professionals such as architects and quantity surveyors but also specialist services such as acoustic engineers. With the increase in infrastructure projects such as motorways and airports and the increasing number of wind farms, the effects of sound on the environment has become a significant part of the construction process.

A high percentage of users were also searching for companies by name and specific products, rather than generic terms. The Construction Centre said that this indicated that a high volume of industry professionals were using the website to source information and pricing for specifications.

Richard Simmons, Managing Director at The Construction Centre said “The website has gone from strength to strength over the last three months. Visitors are primarily using the product search which is the main focus of the website but we are now seeing all of the additional information being accessed as well. The website is designed to provide a range of information which is relevant to each visitor and it is this which makes The Construction Centre currently the most significant online resource for the building industry.”

The Construction Centre holds a directory of 10,000 product manufacturers and suppliers and contains over 97,000 search terms relating to the building industry. There are several directories containing contact details for all types of industry merchants, professionals and tradesmen. Additional information available on the website includes Local Authority Planning offices, Building Regulations, Courses, Jobs, Trade Publications and Trade Associations.
