Keeping the heat out
Climate change has been blessing / cursing us with hot summers for a few years already. To keep temperatures bearable in house, air conditioning units and fans are being used more and more. However, these tend to use a lot of power. Consequently it makes more sense to shade large vertical areas of glass with roller blinds fitted on the outside. They keep rooms cool and do not accelerate climate change.
Record temperatures, a tangible indication of climate change, have really made us sweat in recent summers. The sale of air conditioning units and fans has soared. But they do use a lot of energy which puts even more pressure on the environment. While there are alternative and more sensible ways of keeping the rooms of one's house cool. One of those is the use of vertical roller blinds. They help to keep the heat out in summer.
Controlling solar protection automatically
Manufacturer markilux offers various models suitable for almost any size of window. The blinds can be mounted quite effortlessly to the outside wall of a house or fitted inside a window reveal. Those models that incorporate the so-called tracfix system, in which a zip holds the cover in side profiles, cover the window completely and effectively. Furthermore some fabrics offered by the manufacturer are coated with special particles and reflect even more heat away from the house during the day. To maximise the cooling effect of the blinds, all south-facing windows should be shaded and ideally should also be extended and retracted automatically: for example by means of weather sensors or a timer. If they have been integrated into a Smart Home System, the shading systems can be controlled with ease by App or Smartphone.
Blinds help to cut costs and conserve energy
This lowers the temperature in the room considerably. At the same time it reduces the consumption of electric power. Actively cooling the interior - depending on the desired ambient temperature - may then no longer be necessary. That would not only do our climate good, but would also save money. But a vertical roller blind brings even more advantages with it: at the same time, it protects against the glare of the sun and offers privacy without plunging the room into complete darkeness. Semi-transparent awning fabrics make a view outside possible, douse the room in a soft half-light and in the evening, when the windows are opened, allow cool air to come in. With vertical roller blinds, therefore, it is possible to considerably improve the living atmosphere in the house and to cut both costs and energy consumption.
