Banasthali President Chitra Purohit Inspiring Speech to commence Session 2019 -2020

In India today, Banasthali which is one among the top ranking institution also stands as the world’s largest residential women’s university having more than 16,000 students on its 850-acre campus situated amidst rural setting in Rajasthan and having a distinct educational ideology and offering a variety of programmes from nursery up to doctoral-level across a wide spectrum of disciplines to prepare enlightened citizens with strong value-base.

Banasthali embarked upon its mission with passion with only five students way back in 1935 when the concept of education for the girl child virtually didn’t exist. The founders went door-to-door to recruit students. There was no question of charging any fee and the founders also went door-to-door to collect donations to carry out their dream.

Undoubtedly, team Banasthali with Vice Chancellor J C Bose Memorial Award for eminent scientist recipient Prof Aditya Shastri a well known alumnus of MIT USA, SUNY State University of New York Stony Brook and Birla Institute of Technology and Science - BITS Pilani is indeed racing forward to be the very best among women universities not only in India but globally.

On 01 July 2019, all faculty gathered at the sprawling lawns in front of iconic Sharda Mandir for the auspicious inauguration of academic session 2019 – 2020. Prof Chitra Purohit President Banasthali Vidyapith hoisted the National flag followed by singing of the National Anthem and ushered in the new academic session. In her inspiring speech, Prof Chita Purohit congratulated team Banasthali for the commissioning of new hostels for girls and highlighted the fund support received from various sources which included Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching – PMMMNMTT, Dalmia – Jhunjhunwala Foundations and other government agencies.

There was a thunderous round of applause when she highlighted the ranking of Banasthali by various agencies including the latest The Week Hansa Research Best Universities Survey and Banasthali team bagging top honours at youth Festivals. She also reiterated the vision mission of the institution and highlighted the necessary as well as desired student – student, faculty – faculty and student – faculty interactions. She urged the hostel wardens to give motherly care for the inmates and urged the old faculty members to do hand holding for the new faculty. She also gave a clarion call for scaling new peaks of glory in the coming academic year. The program ended with singing of Vande Mataram.

The faculty who attended the session commencement function left with beaming faces and pride that they are indeed integral part of an institution which is a jewel in the crown among the women’s universities not only in India today but across the globe
