FMS-WISDOM Banasthali Vidyapith workshop on “What-Why-How of Bharatiya Culture”

FMS-WISDOM Banasthali Vidyapith workshop on “What-Why-How of Bharatiya Culture”

Pandit Hiralal Shastri founded Banasthali Vidyapith has been in media attention recently for getting the Four Star Ranking in Quacquarelli Symonds - QS Stars Rated for Excellence and Diamond status under QS I.Gauge Indian University Rating. At the core Banasthali is all in all Bharatiya and no one has doubts about it.

On 11 Apr 2018 at Atal Incubation Centre, Banasthali B School FMS WISDOM conducted a workshop on What Why How of Bharatiya Culture. About 300 participants including the students and faculty members from various disciplines across Banasthali campus attended and found the workshop interesting and insightful.

The session witnessed discussion on various aspects of Bharatiya culture. Many people believe that questioning is not part of Bharatiya culture, so this session began with a discussion on Sanshay (suspicion) and Jigyasa (curiosity) as two ways to question. The sanshay does not lead anywhere while it’s the curiosity which helps mental acumen to grow, is always encouraged in Bharat.

Another interesting idea shared in the session was on the correct pronunciation of “Samskriti” (in general pronounced as Sanskriti, the correct one is Samskriti). Further, the session highlighted that our Shastra are not mythology, which is very essential to note in the beginning itself.

The participants were curious to know about origin of life as well as what is after life. Later the participants involved interaction on theme of Education, Jyotish, Dharm and Law, Clothing, Ramayan, existence of Bhagwan, relevance of scriptures, relationships and stress management.
The facilitators shared stories and anecdotes to drive home the message. This was appreciated by the participants.

This session was conducted under Promotion of Research in Indian Management and Ethos (PRIME) initiative of FMS-WISDOM, Banasthali Vidyapith.

The students and faculty who participated in the workshop indeed left with clear mind as well as beaming faces and pride that they were part of an institution which is a jewel in the crown among the women’s universities not only in India today but across the globe,
