Journalists Insurance Worldwide: Insurance Cover in War and Conflict Areas
Dr. Walter GmbH has developed a new product that closes a gap in the coverage of journalists: ‘GS Journalist’. It is a combination of health, accident and liability insurance and provides comprehensive cover for journalists and members of the press on their travels and foreign assignments.As a special feature, this product also covers countries for which the German Federal Foreign Office has issued a current travel warning. Although journalists often have to report from war and conflict areas, most insurers exclude such dangerous countries in their terms and conditions. Therefore "the development of ‘GS Journalist’ has long been due" stated Reinhard Bellinghausen, Managing Director of Dr. Walter GmbH.
‘GS Journalist’ provides insurance cover for reporters, cameramen, photographers, editors and correspondents who can also purchase this product from abroad. It can be purchased online and is calculated on a daily basis, making it easy to thoroughly cover also short-term foreign assignments. There is no minimum sum insured and the policyholders have free choice of doctors and hospitals abroad. This travel insurance policy not only covers German members of the press, but journalists of all nationalities. Risks are covered for trips from one day up to 24 months.
