As Network Administrators make performance upgrades to their network, they also need to accommodate the demand to transmit RS232, RS422 and RS485 data across the IP network. For decades, Perle has been meeting this demand with the IOLAN Serial Terminal Servers. The recently launched Perle IOLAN G Serial Servers provide an enhanced platform upon which Perle will continue to service the many countless environments that rely upon serial to Ethernet conversion.

IOLAN G Serial Device Servers have the most advanced platform on the market with a 600 MHz ARM processor, 512MB RAM, 4000MB flash memory, autosensing Ethernet speeds of 10/100/1000Base-T and serial port speeds up to 230Kbps with customizable baud rate support.

The new IOLAN STG8 Secure Terminal Server has eight RJ45 connectors with RS232 interfaces. It is ideal for connecting multiple async devices to TCP/IP Ethernet. Commonly connected devices include Cisco console ports, POS terminals, servers, modems, card readers and a wide range of industrial equipment.

To meet a broader set of application environments, the new IOLAN SDG8 Secure Device Server has eight software selectable RS232/422/485 interfaces. In addition to standard AC power, it is also fully compliant with 802.3af PoE compliant power sources.

John Feeney, COO at Perle Systems comments, “Perle continues to see a high demand for reliable serial to Ethernet connectivity hardware. We will continue to service this demand with the broadest set of high quality products available.”

Perle IOLAN Serial Servers only use high-end components to ensure product reliability and are backed by a Lifetime Warranty to ensure user satisfaction.

If I ever find myself in the remote Alaskan interior, I would like to meet Mike Spooner, Telecom and Infrastructure Technician at the Sumitomo Pogo Mine. Why? This man is a story teller. A good story teller. So good, that he can make a story about setting up a networked virtual serial port extremely entertaining. Okay, I sense your doubt, and I don’t blame you.
