A high calibre jury of experts from the red dot award product design 2009 awarded the Wiha Stubby magazine bit holder the "red dot" seal of quality as a recognition of high design standards. This award is given only to especially creative, innovative and qualitative products. This year a total of 3,231 products from 49 countries were entered for judging.

An award from an internationally renowned design competition such as the red dot design award is in this regard an important indication as to whether a product has the potential to assert itself on an international level.

Judging of products entered for the red dot design award is carried out by an international jury of renowned design experts. They inspect and test the products and assess them according to such criteria as level of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, service life, ecological compatibility and level of self-declaration.
