A Visual Guide to Diagnosing Neurologic Disorders

04-30-2009 01:39 PM CET | Health & Medicine

Press release from: Thieme Publishers

New York/Stuttgart - One of the greatest challenges facing by both trainees and seasoned physicians diagnosing a neurologic condition is making accurate links, between their factual knowledge of anatomy, with their more subjective findings of a patient’s signs and symptoms. Anatomic Basis of Neurologic Diagnosis, published by Thieme, is a compelling addition to the field and makes vivid correlations between neuroanatomy and clinical findings. This visual guide to diagnosing neurologic disorders clearly presents the material in a straightforward manner with a strong emphasis on clinical application. The newly released book will be available at Thieme booth 937 during the American Academy of Neurology 2009 Annual Meeting, which takes place April 25 - May 2 in Seattle, Washington.

Reflecting the clinician's approach to patient care, content has been organized according to regions and functional systems. Written by medical professionals for medical professionals, the book describes the anatomy of the nervous system and succinctly conveys the conditions that result when the anatomy is disturbed. Information with little or no clinical significance is either briefly discussed or omitted, so readers are able to fully focus on the essentials of the neurologic diagnosis.

Anatomic Basis of Neurologic Diagnosis also provides straight-to-the-point information regarding the cardinal manifestations of disease. This visually driven 600 page book, with its more than 500 illustrations and numerous tables, skillfully conveys anatomic as well as clinical concepts.

"This book is intended for medical students, residents, and practicing clinicians who wish to understand or review the basic anatomic concepts that underlie neurologic diagnosis," states author Cary Alberstone, MD.
