ADVANSA´s innovations at Performance Days

ADVANSA, the largest polyester manufacturer operating in the Europe, Middle East and Africa, is presenting its innovations at Performance Days, the first European Roadshow, specialized on functional fabrics for textile sportswear.

Performance Days, a workshop for textile producers and designers with participants from Europe, Asia and USA and travelling from Munich to Verona and having the last stop at Stockholm, is the right platform to have a look on new innovations. At this platform, ADVANSA is meeting consumer interests with its outstanding products: ADVANSA Thermo°Cool™, ADVANSA Thermo°Cool™ ECO and BIOPHYL™.

ADVANSA ThermoºCool™ consists of a unique construction of fibres that will interact with the user of the garment, providing a dual functionality. The fibre is designed with increased surface area and micro-channels to transport moisture quickly away form the skin to the textile surface. The hollow fibres allow enhanced air circulation and focus energy on the evaporation process to achieve maximum evaporative cooling. In cool weather or after exercise the hollow fibres provide thermo-buffering to protect muscles from post-exercise chill. Thus, providing superior moisture management and temperature control, the fabrics for apparel are keeping the users comfortable across a wide range of temperatures and activity levels.

Created with new intelligent technology from ADVANSA and meeting the two trends of growing consumer interest - multifunctionality and environmental awareness - the
thermoregulation product ADVANSA ThermoºCool™ is also available in an ECO version. ADVANSA ThermoºCool™ ECO uses a polymer that is made from renewable resources, such as corn, instead of traditional petrochemical derivates. By replacing traditional petrochemicals with renewable resources and biological processes, ADVANSA is a step closer to building a renewable economy.

BIOPHYL™ products using ADVANSA’S fibres and yarns are made with PTT, a special polyester-like polymer. In the case of BIOPHYL™ petrol based Glycol, has been replaced with Bio-PDO™, which is made of corn sucrose. This resource is renewable and therefore reduces the dependability on petro-chemicals, which is the classical raw material for Polyester. In addition, the use of yarns made with such polymers contributes to energy savings and a reduction of greenhouse gases. In comparison to fossil-based Nylon, the production of this polymer consumes 30-40 % less energy and results in 50-60% less greenhouse gas emissions.

BIOPHYL™ fabrics offer additional values to the user: They are easy to care for and have a unique soft hand together with excellent stretch and recovery. These beneficial end-use properties derive from a unique, semi-crystalline molecular structure featuring a pronounced “kink” which gives special in-use properties superior to either nylon or polyester.
