Weinheim, Germany, 1st December 2008 - Freudenberg Mektec Europa GmbH, a leader in the development and production of flexible printed-circuit boards, presented new applications for the flexible printed-circuit board for the first time to the public at electronica 2008 (11th to the 14th of November) in Munich. Trade visitors and media representatives were able to convince themselves of the cutting-edge possibilities for use in the automotive, medical and industrial sectors.

The feedback was throughout positive. Despite generally declining attendance figures at the trade fair, Freudenberg Mektec Europa reported a new visitor’s record. Nearly 450 interested attendees gathered information about the numerous possibilities for applying a flexible printed-circuit board. Employees from Germany and Japan answered questions revolving around sales, marketing and development.

Dr. Wolfgang Bochtler, managing director of Freudenberg Mektec Europa and chairman of the board of VdL, the Association for the Printed-Circuit Board Industry, considers electronica as a major success: “Our booth concept for electronica 2008 has completely proven itself. We were able to present our products in an impressive way, and the high level of demand confirms us in our strategy. Interest was able to be aroused at a large number of companies, both national and international. We have an exciting future ahead of us in which flexible printed-circuit boards will take hold in new areas of deployment. All in all, the trade fair presentation was a success across the board.”

Alongside applications for flexible printed-circuit boards in medical technology and industry on the whole, at the same time Freudenberg Mektec Europa also demonstrated three solution concepts in the automotive segment. For example, the flexible printed-circuit board’s extreme resilience was exhibited using the most recent generation of transmission control units. These new applications show clearly that the flexible printed-circuit board is constantly ‘in sync’ with the times and is the perfect partner to keep up with the latest trends in automotive development.
