Freudenberg Mektec Europa presents new applications for flexible printed-circuit boards at the electronica 2008

Weinheim, 5th November 2008 - Freudenberg Mektec Europa GmbH, the market leader in the development and production of flexible printed-circuit boards, will present new possibilities for deploying flexible printed-circuit boards in the automotive, medical and industrial fields for the first time at the electronica 2008 trade fair in Munich (11th-14th of November). On 80 square metres of space at Booth 324 in Hall A 6, executive management will be joined by members of staff from Germany, the USA and Japan to answer questions revolving around all facets of sales, marketing and development.

The unique advantages offered by the flexible printed-circuit board are going to be impressively demonstrated through the use of selected examples. Whereas this innovative technology is already being successfully applied in medical technology for mobile respirators and blood sugar monitoring devices, the use of flexible printed- circuit boards in gauging and control instruments opens up new opportunities in development and production to industry on the whole. In the automotive segment, three problem-solving concepts will be presented at one time: The flexible printed- circuit board’s extreme resilience will be illustrated using the most up-to-date generation of transmission control units, devices already being deployed by major German automobile manufacturers. The high demands placed on flexural load-bearing capacities in the case of steering column drop-arm switches are also mastered by the flexible printed-circuit board, a fact proven by its usage in a variety of German and French automobile models. That the flexible printed-circuit board is always ‘in sync’ with the times and is the perfect partner for trends in automotive development is shown by its application in LED technology. The freedom in malleability enables greater design leeway and lends the automobile a distinctive ‘face’ as well ─ from limousines all the way to sports cars.
