AHMEDABAD, INDIA - Mantra Softech, a global provider of biometric and security technologies, has been named Winner - Innovation in DeepTech at the 16th Aegis Graham Bell Awards, held at The Ashok Hotel, New Delhi.

The award recognises Mantra Softech's development of advanced, deep-learning-based Presentation Attack Detection technology, designed to strengthen biometric authentication against spoofing, synthetic identities and increasingly sophisticated presentation attacks.

The Aegis Graham Bell Awards recognise breakthrough technologies and innovations developed across India's technology ecosystem. The programme is supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.

Strengthening Trust in Biometric Authentication

As generative AI makes manipulated images, synthetic identities and biometric spoofing attempts increasingly sophisticated, biometric matching alone is no longer sufficient.

A secure biometric system must verify not only whether a fingerprint, face or iris matches an enrolled identity, but also whether the submitted biometric sample originates from a genuine, physically present person.

Mantra Softech's Presentation Attack Detection technology uses deep-learning models to identify potential spoofing attempts involving fabricated fingerprints, printed photographs, replayed videos, masks and other manipulated biometric samples.

By distinguishing genuine biometric interactions from presentation attacks, the technology adds a critical security layer to identity verification and authentication systems.

The technology is designed to support high-security environments, including digital identity programmes, financial services, border management, e-governance, enterprise access control and large-scale authentication systems.

"Winning the Innovation in DeepTech Award at the 16th Aegis Graham Bell Awards is a proud milestone for Mantra Softech and a testament to the dedication of our research and engineering teams," said Hiren Bhandari, Director - Technical, Mantra Softech.

"As generative AI and synthetic identity attacks become more sophisticated, biometric systems must verify more than a biometric match. They must also establish that the sample comes from a genuine, physically present person. This recognition reinforces our commitment to building resilient, intelligent and trustworthy biometric authentication technologies."

Two Decades of Indigenous Innovation

The award marks an important milestone in Mantra Softech's evolution from biometric device manufacturing to the development of AI-powered identity and security technologies.

For more than two decades, the company has invested in research and development across fingerprint recognition, iris recognition, facial recognition, biometric liveness detection and secure identity verification.

This sustained investment strengthens Mantra Softech's position as an Indian developer of advanced biometric and identity-security technologies built to address emerging threats in the generative AI era.

The recognition also highlights the growing importance of indigenous DeepTech research in protecting digital identity infrastructure and strengthening trust across government and enterprise authentication systems.
