European History and the German Angst
In European history we find two different qualities of development, one for the French, English and Dutch and one for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Germany as well as Austria and Switzerland were only marginally involved in European colonialism and imperialism until 1885, as the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation had to constantly struggle with internal religious and political tensions and the German power area remained fragmented into numerous power areas after the Thirty Years' War from 1618 to 1648.After the new German Empire was founded in 1871, Bismarck spoke out against colonialism and imperialism. As a result, it was not until 1884, when Bismarck offered to mediate between the disputed European colonial powers with regard to the division of Africa, that Bismarck also accepted the German colonization of some of the territories he had been granted. For Bismarck, these colonial territories were above all a bargaining chip for settling any European disputes and were therefore also a political instrument.
Thanks to their successful industrialization, the Germans were not dependent on labour and products from the European colonial territories in 1885. This success was achieved because the religious teachings of Puritan Protestantism helped the German proletariat to overcome the often inhumane hardships of industrialization and to work towards improving social conditions in the culture. The serfs freed in Prussia from 1806 onwards, who had become the proletariat of German industrialization, strove in a fundamental way to become a new united people. The failure of the revolution of 1848/49, one of many examples of how Germans have always had great difficulty uniting ideologically or religiously, led to a depression in the German states, with the result that many dissatisfied, democratically-minded Germans emigrated to America.
This bloodletting contributed to some extent to the relatively unanimous enthusiasm of the Germans for the founding of the Reich by Bismarck in 1871. From this point onwards, the German states that had been scattered over the past centuries and were now reunited could not be contained in their enthusiasm and glorified their industrialization in an equally idealistic and exaggerated manner as the newly emerging megalomaniacal ideological outgrowths of a new militarism and a v?lkisch racism. The new militarism found expression in special military associations, which were sometimes able to unite a huge number of members. Bismarck was able to keep these extremist ideological and political trends in check to some extent during his reign by pursuing a consistent realpolitik.
After the dismissal of Bismarck by Kaiser Wilhelm, the Kaiser not only neglected Bismarck's treaties of alliance, but also cultivated a grandiose military language that negligently contributed to the start of the First World War. It is important to trace this development, as otherwise it will not be clear to the observer that from 1871 to 1933 a very special ideological, emotional and material breeding ground was created in the German Reich, which was the essential basis for the Nazis to be able to achieve impressive successes within a very short period of time. The rise of the Nazis therefore has only a limited connection with esoteric and mythological ideas.
With regard to the emergence of the world wars in the 20th century, it is still important for people today to understand the qualitative difference in organization between the traditional colonial powers and the German countries. Since Prussian industrialization could not access cheap labor and colonial goods from around the world, German industrialization had to rely on its own low-cost laborers, which were abundantly available due to serfdom being abandoned in Prussia in 1806, and turn them into a Prussian proletariat. This was made possible above all by the fact that the people "liberated" from serfdom no longer had any social insurance and were therefore forced to accept the working and living conditions of the new proletariat, which were characterized by great hardship, both in the Prussian Empire and in the later German Reich. For many of those affected, the liberation from serfdom from 1806 onwards was therefore not a blessing.
What the traditional colonial powers did to the foreign peoples for the purpose of maximum exploitation, the Prussian Empire and the German Empire did to their own people in the Prussian manner (discipline, diligence, thrift), which is why we can speak of a Europe of two colonial systems, a sadistic colonialism towards the outside world and a masochistic colonialism towards its own people on the inside.
The internal colonialism gradually produced exemplary, effective and perfectionistically optimizing workers in the German Reich, who are known to this day not only for their economic performance, but also for their obedience to authority and their submissive spirit ("Bloody German obedience"). This state of mind still results today in the ultimately self-isolating, striving German, who concentrates too much on material life insurance and has remained susceptible to strong fears and social conflicts due to the resulting lack of social connectedness. In Western culture, this has made the term "German Angst" proverbial to this day.

How and why I became an author for anthropology, cultural history and psychology.
The main reason for this development was that I was born into a traumatized extended family of war refugees and developed allergic reactions to the relationship entanglements within my family at the age of 20. That's why I started looking into the question of why human behavior is sometimes unbearable early on.
After 40 years of intensive research, I have found a satisfactory explanation, which has enabled me to decisively change the inappropriate survival concepts I developed in childhood.
Over the past 25 years, I have spent several months each winter studying the research results of cultural history, anthropology, ethnology, sociology, psychology and other sciences on my own and have thus recognized many inconsistencies between the research results of science and the political, economic and cultural-historical representations in societies.
