We now have a generation of parents with limited knowledge influencing a generation of children in subjects they have received insufficient training in. Unless people make the effort to learn about food and food hygiene the rate of gastro-intestinal problems will continue to increase. David McCarthy is a campaigner for good food practices and believe that women are being sold short by the denial of such educational programs.

How many people understand what each shelf of their refrigerator is designed to store? The chances are that their grandmothers are far more skilful than they are when it comes to knowledge around the home and especially when it comes down to food and food hygiene.

A worn seal in a refrigerator door will:

- Shorten the life of the machine.
- Increase electricity bills.
- Encourage bacteria growth in the food stored.

The cost of having a new seal fitted is very low and should be done at least once every three years.

Refrigerators are not cheap and it doesn't make sense to shorten their life span simply by failing to maintain them.

If you want to pay your electricity supplier more I'm sure they're happy to accept it, but environmentally we should attempt to save on utility usage.

If you buy food in a supermarket it isn't that fresh by the time it gets to you because they have long and complicated supply chains. It doesn't make sense to have a bacteria friendly refrigerator to store it in.
