Press Release - IGEN ENVIRONTHON 2025

Event Summary: ITEF Presents IGEN ENVIRONTHON, certified by the Limca Book of Records (LBR) and the World Book of Records, London (WBR), successfully concluded its third edition.

The 3rd Edition of IGEN ENVIRONTHON 2025 made history with a 36-hour non-stop global climate action marathon, conducted from 10:00 AM on 13 September to 10:00 PM on 14 September 2025, setting a new world record officially recognized as
"The World's Longest 36-Hour Virtual Climate Solutions Marathon on Panchabhutas, aligned with the UN SDGs and COP30."

The marathon was organized by The Institution of Green Engineers (IGEN) and the International Tamil Engineers Forum (ITEF), with ITEF as the Title Platinum Sponsor. This record-setting initiative not only engaged global participants in continuous climate dialogue but also produced recommendations aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), contributing to the agenda of COP30 (Brazil, November 2025).

The #IGENEnvironthon2025 culminated in the development of 18 key recommendations - three for each of the five elements (Panchabhutas) and three specifically addressing COP30. These recommendations were carefully deliberated and finalized by the expert committee. The committee has resolved to formally communicate them to the COP30 Executive Committee and the United Nations SDG Committee, as well as to national and local governments for policy consideration and implementation.

These strategic recommendations are designed to drive practical climate action, strengthen sustainability frameworks, and empower communities to transition toward a Greener Earth. By aligning with global and national agendas, the outcomes of IGEN Environthon 2025 provide a strong foundation for actionable change, ensuring that the voices of youth, academia, and global partners contribute meaningfully to climate resilience and sustainable development.

Publication of Hand Book of Panchabhutas Proceeding : As part of IGEN Environthon 2025 - Marathon, The Institution of Green Engineers (IGEN) proudly released the Pre-Proceedings Book titled "Handbook of Panchabhutas." The volume features 45 articles contributed by researchers, industry professionals, academicians, and students, showcasing integrative and transdisciplinary research approaches that support the attainment of COP goals and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Furthermore, the presented papers will be forwarded for publication as chapters in IGEN's first official book, "Handbook of Panchabhutas for Planet & People" (ISBN: 978-81-989524-7-9), scheduled for release in 2025. The handbook explores innovative solutions inspired by the Panchabhutas (Five Elements) framework, aligning environmental sustainability with the SDGs and providing actionable insights for a greener future. This publication not only reflects IGEN's commitment to advancing knowledge and collaboration but also provides actionable insights to guide communities and policymakers toward a sustainable and greener future.

COLCLUSION: IGEN ENVIRONTHON 2025 wasn't merely a marathon or record attempt. It stood as a movement for sustainable change, encouraging grassroots participation and the integration of ecological awareness into academic, industrial, and policy frameworks. The 3rd Edition of IGEN Environthon 2025 concluded as a landmark global initiative, setting new benchmarks in collaborative climate action and earning recognition in both the Limca Book of Records and the World Book of Records, London, for successfully hosting the world's longest 36-hour virtual climate solutions marathon. Anchored in the philosophy of the Panchabhutas (Five Elements), the event brought together academia, industry leaders, youth representatives, innovators, policymakers, and global partners to deliberate on sustainability and produce 18 strategic recommendations aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and COP30, which will be submitted to international, national, and local authorities for policy consideration and implementation. Key highlights included the release of the "Handbook of Panchabhutas" with 45 scholarly contributions, a series of pre-conferences, offline thematic events, and student competitions across all five elements, along with vibrant participation from start-ups and youth innovators driving forward-thinking solutions. Supported by strong academic collaborations, global partnerships, industry sponsors, and the tireless efforts of volunteers and student leaders, the Environthon transcended its record-setting achievement to become a global movement for sustainable change, fostering grassroots participation, integrating ecological wisdom with technological innovation, and laying a powerful foundation for collective action toward a greener, more resilient, and sustainable future for generations to come.
