Honey from a professional beekeeper from Northern Germany
Press releaseBeekeeping Ahrens - tradition, innovation and regional honey from the Südheide for over 115 years
Müden/Örtze, [01.08.2025]_ - Beekeeping Ahrens, a third-generation family business, is celebrating its 115th anniversary in 2025. Since its foundation in 1910, the professional beekeeping business has always been committed to producing honest, regional honey. Founded as a basket beekeeping business, the company has continuously developed over the decades - from a traditional craft to a modern beekeeping business that focuses on quality and sustainability.
Tradition meets innovation
Ahrens Beekeeping was founded by great-grandparents and passed down from generation to generation. The profession of beekeeper was learned from the very beginning and cultivated with great dedication. Today, master beekeeper Klaus Ahrens continues the beekeeping in the proven tradition, supplemented by modern techniques and sustainable beekeeping methods, and his son Jonas, a trained beekeeper, is ready to support him in order to continue the business in the future. The result is a diverse range of honeys that reflects the natural diversity of the Südheide.
New honey specialties for the year 2025
This year, Ahrens Beekeeping is presenting a range of new honey varieties that highlight the diversity of flavors in the region:
* Very white rapeseed honey - delicate and mild, ideal for everyday enjoyment
* Transparent, typical acacia honey - delicate in taste, particularly popular with honey lovers
* Full-bodied blossom honey - a harmonious mix of regional flowers
* Shimmering green cornflower honey - a visual highlight with a unique taste
* Orange sunflower honey - strong and aromatic, perfect for summer
* Strong, dark forest honey - intense in flavor, ideal for winter
* Strong, malty buckwheat honey - a special treat for connoisseurs
* Strong and bitter sweet chestnut honey - an exceptional honey with a characteristic aroma
* And the popular, strongly aromatic heather honey (own brand) - our classic that has been delighting our customers for years
* Regional quality - honest and locally produced
Beekeeping Ahrens attaches great importance to regionality and honesty. Our honey is produced locally in the Südheide, directly from the beekeeper to the consumer. We believe in transparency and sustainability - our honey is free from artificial additives, natural and is produced with a lot of love and expertise.
Sales and events
Our honeys are available in our store in Müden/Örtze. We are also regularly represented at the weekly markets in Hanover. Online honey delivery via our homepage is our largest sales channel and enables honey lovers far beyond Germany's borders to enjoy our products.
Our philosophy
At Ahrens Beekeeping, the focus is on the consumer. We produce honest, regional honey that is made locally for the people in the region. Our aim is to preserve the natural quality of our honeys and to offer our customers an authentic taste experience.
A look into the future

The professional beekeeping from the Heide introduces itself and its honey
With approx. 200 bee colonies, our apiary is used for a wide range of different types of honey. The first honeys to be extracted are rape honey, early harvest honey and acacia honey. We harvest fir honey, buckwheat honey and sweet chestnut honey from our apiary during long-distance hikes throughout Germany.
In the regional area we produce forest honey, blossom honey and lime honey. Special honey specialties include cornflower honey, heather honey, pressed honey and sliced honey. Honey can be shipped for all products. You are welcome to visit the apiary on site and convince yourself of our working techniques and products.
