25 years of solid wood kitchens in the regional show house

The regional show home next to the Möbelmacher workshop demonstrates how durable and individual solid wood kitchens can be. The regional show home was completed in 2002 using only materials and craftsmen from the region. The kitchen, which was realized two years before the house in 2000, has proven its qualities not only in everyday life, but also on the stage of Bavarian television with top chefs such as Alfons Schubeck or Andrée Köthe from traditional houses. For the live cooking shows, it was repeatedly set up and dismantled, used intensively - and still presents itself "like new" to this day.

The first photo shows the kitchen in the year 2000 in the still half-finished exhibition, the second in 2024 in a private home with the same people, who are much more aware of the passage of time, not least because of their grandchild.

The reason for this indestructibility is the use of a sink worktop made of laboratory ceramics and local beech as furniture wood, spiced up with stainless steel sheets, which have a loosening effect. The wooden surface finished with natural resin oils ensures that the kitchen continues to surprise all visitors even after 25 years of intensive use, countless parties and three re-oiling sessions to date.

All of the Möbelmacher's furniture is custom-made according to a design developed together with the customer. The company was founded in 1988 in Hersbruck near Nuremberg as a holistically oriented furniture manufacturer. In 1997, the newly founded Die Möbelmacher GmbH, which now has around 15 employees, moved into the new ecological building in Unterkrumbach, where furniture and kitchens are made to order from solid wood from the region.
The range is complemented by the complete furnishing of kitchens, living and working environments, from lighting and upholstered furniture to curtains and even hi-fi systems made from local wood. They have been awarded the Sustainability Prize of the City of Nuremberg, named Bavaria's environmental ambassador, won the Thalhofer Prize and, since the 2005 Craftsmanship Prize, they have been one of the seven best German craft businesses. In 2010, they won the German Local Sustainability Award. In 2021 and 2022, they were nominated for the Lammsbräu Sustainability Award and the German Sustainability Award "Local Hero", also in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, they won the IGR's Ergonomics Innovation Award, and in 2024, their workshop was named the most beautiful in Germany by the jury of the trade magazine DDS. On November 28, 2024, they won the German Sustainability Award 2025 in the furniture and furnishings category.
