Height-adjustable kitchens and more - A workshop with LINAK at Team7

UNTERKRUMBACH / RIED - What do a Steinway grand piano, a height-adjustable kitchen island, and the furniture makers from the Hersbrucker Alb have in common? They all rely on technology you can't see, but you can feel: lifting columns from LINAK. Recently, the Danish drive specialist invited guests to a unique exchange at the new "Team7 World" in Ried im Innkreis.

There are moments in the furniture industry when you feel like you're in a fairy tale from a bygone era. For instance, when you realize that your own desk has been moving up and down without complaint since 1997--that is, for nearly three decades. The secret behind it? A frame from LINAK. Reason enough for furniture makers Ute and Herwig Danzer to accept the invitation from Christian Renner and his team to visit Austria.

The location of the meeting was no coincidence: The new Team7 World is an ecological statement in wood, demonstrating that even large companies can live up to visions of healthy living and climate-friendliness. "It's just like ours, only much, much bigger," Herwig Danzer noted with a smile as he wandered through the massive production halls. Particularly impressive: The symbiosis of traditional craftsmanship and Danish high-tech.

The event focused on the theme "Ideas Move - Perspectives Connect." In high-profile presentations--including those by residential psychologist Uwe Linke and healthcare expert Sylvia Leydecker--it became clear that height adjustment in furniture design is no longer a luxury, but an essential contribution to ergonomics and quality of life. Whether in a barrier-free kitchen or at a home office workstation: LINAK's technology acts like a butler--silent, reliable, and always at the service of health.

A highlight was the anecdote about the height-adjustable kitchens from Moebelmacher and Team7. While Moebelmacher installs DL2 columns in their solid-wood islands that can easily lift 800 kilograms, the K7 features a lighter version; however, it can only raise the countertop, not the entire kitchen. However, this is a prerequisite for the kitchen to be functional for wheelchair users as well, which was the original intention during the planning phase. "We appreciate the collaboration with LINAK because they don't just sell products; they develop solutions for people," said Danzer.

The evening concluded with Italian delicacies at "da Mimmo." Here, it became clear once again: In an industry currently grappling with many challenges, strong partnerships and thinking outside the box are more important than ever. When the technology is right, too, making furniture is twice as enjoyable.

The company was founded in 1988 in Hersbruck near Nuremberg as a holistically oriented furniture manufacturer. In 1997, the newly established Die Moebelmacher GmbH, with around 15 employees by then, moved into the eco-friendly new building in Unterkrumbach, where custom-made furniture and kitchens are crafted from solid wood sourced locally.
The product range is complemented by complete furnishings for kitchens, living spaces, and workspaces--from lighting and upholstered furniture to curtains and even hi-fi systems made from local wood. They have been awarded the City of Nuremberg Sustainability Prize, named Environmental Ambassadors of Bavaria, won the Thalhofer Prize, and since receiving the 2005 Craftsmanship Award, they have been ranked among the seven best German craft businesses. In 2010, they won the German Local Sustainability Prize. In 2021 and 2022, they were nominated for the Lammsbraeu Sustainability Award and the German Sustainability Award "Local Hero," as well as in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, they won the IGR Ergonomics Innovation Award, and in 2024, their workshop was named the most beautiful in Germany by the jury of the trade journal DDS. In 2025, they won the German Sustainability Award in the Furniture and Furnishings category.
