(Strongsville, OH) – In the 1980s, there were sports collecting hotel shows all over the country. Fusco Auctions revives this tradition with what will be the largest vintage sports card and memorabilia show held in a hotel location this year. The Ohio Sports Collectors Convention takes pace April 11-13, 2008 at the Holiday Inn Select, 15471 Royalton Road in Strongsville, Ohio. With over 120 tables as well as corporate areas, many of the best dealers from 15 states and Canada will be represented. The main focus of the show is vintage cards, autographs and other pre-1969 memorabilia.

Show hours are Friday, April 11th from Noon to 8:00pm, Saturday April 12th from 10:00am to 6:00pm, and Sunday April 13th from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Admission is only $4.00 per day, and Weekend Passes are $10.00. A $15 Super Ticket is also available which includes weekend admission and Early-Bird entry on Friday at 10:00am. Autograph signers on hand will include Negro Leaguer Ted Toles, Rocky Colavito of the Cleveland Indians, Jim Chones of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Hanford Dixon and Reggie Rucker of the Cleveland Browns. For more information call 440-975-8938 or visit the show’s web site at www.OhioSportsCollector.com

“Hotel shows have a special feeling that nothing else can match,” comments Paul Fusco of Fusco Auctions in Willoughby, Ohio, organizer of the convention. “So many people have told us how excited they are that we are reviving this type of event. Our goal is to make this an annual event that becomes a mecca for pre-1969 sports collectors.”

Fusco Auctions is one of the largest specialty auction houses in Ohio, conducting regular public and online auctions at a 9,000 square foot facility in downtown Willoughby. Founded in 1981 and well known for vintage sports cards and memorabilia, stamps, and coins, Fusco Auctions has expanded in recent years to include antiques and fine arts, books, comics, and estate and real estate auctions.

“Not only will we attract seasoned collectors and dealers from across the country, but we hope to encourage attendance by new collectors who are interested in learning more about the vintage sports collecting field,” Fusco notes. “This is the perfect opportunity for collectors at all levels to interact with professionals. Some of our dealers have been in the business 30 or 40 years – you can’t tap into that kind of experience from your computer terminal.”

Online trading, eBay, and the Internet in general have changed the way in which collectors build their collections, but Fusco believes that there is still a need for people to get together and share their experience and information in person. “Shows like this will always have a place in the collecting world,” he comments.
