On November 24th last year, Li Ting, Deputy Director of the Endoscopy Center at Shaoxing Second Hospital and Deputy Team Leader of the 29th batch of the China Medical Aid Team to Mali, departed for his mission in Africa. This is his second time stepping onto Mali after five years.

In Mali, Li Ting mainly undertakes internal medicine and digestive endoscopy diagnosis and treatment at the Mali Hospital from Monday to Friday, with surgeries for endoscopic esophageal dilation procedures on Tuesdays.

Mali Hospital does not have a dedicated digestive endoscopist, so the daily endoscopic work is carried out by Li Ting in cooperation with a local nurse. In the operating room, Li Ting is also responsible for training four assistants, and they are now able to perform balloon dilation treatments independently.

When asked what he most wants to do in Mali, Li Ting responded that he wants to innovate digestive endoscopy technologies, improve the standards of Mali Hospital, enhance screening efforts for early gastrointestinal cancer, increase the availability of endoscopic equipment, and train local doctors. His goal is to leave behind a medical team in Africa that cannot be taken away.
